Here are some pics of the some of the new tube work.
From the side we gained about 3" over all in body length.

Rear shocks are Bilstiens and the its been narrowed about 18"
The majority of the tube is 2"x.120 and we reused the stock fuel tank, not to mention we reused the stock filler neck.:)

From the front you can see we narrowed the body by about 13"
We also did away with the Rocksliders and did a tappered rock pannle that works as a slider.

man that looks sweet!!!! and apparently it works good too! i do think it would look better if the white side pannels came up and angled down and followed the lines of the tube beside the seats on each side. just my op though. what springs do you run? yj's? do you have a front on view? do run a shackle reversal in the front?thanks.:smokin:

The body pannles are kind of a first, there made to be changed quick and cheap. It wouldn't take much to change any of the body work.:)

The rear springs are 3" XJ's put on backwards so that they off set the rear center pin by 4" and the front has Yj's.

Looks really good. How do you feel about the way it all worked?

fatkid
07-10-2002, 08:23 PM
Worked well, needs deaper gears and some tires. As for the suspension and the wheel base I think I'm going to run it for a while and see. No changes come to mind as of yet.

Did you flop it in the box??

fatkid

No, the box was really chewed up and the lil 33"s where just getting swallowed! I ran it but it wasn't smooth.:)

Fatkid don't worry I saw you and I assume it wasn't your best but keep in mind that Lance went in and did not come out in his normal cat walk time eather. I pulled up and just parked after checking it out real well then decided to just build a rig like schafers to play with rather then bust up the EB.

Man that thing is looking great! What are you thinking about doing for gears? How well did the xj springs flex?

I want to put it back on the street, if we do were thinking of using half of one of those kidie pools for each of the tires.:D

We've got some extra special stuff on schedual for the gearing, however it's top secrete until it's done.:skull:

As for the Suspension, it's trick! The XJ's flex like mad with the springs inboard, almost to much so we had to change the springs to 3" lift springs with the clamps still on. We also had use a really awsome shock (Bilstien 5100 Coilovers) in order to get rid of the masive body roll. With the Bilstiens and the inboard springs it flexs well ( @1100 on a 27*) but is still stable enough to side hill. We feel that it's set up well for a variety of wheeling.:skull:

Looks good. Almost makes me want to stay leafs all around. I assume the XJ's are the same length as the YJ's? I need some new springs and it's getting real hard to find stock YJ's anymore now that everyone is buying TJ's and lifting them.

got a question for ya fatty. Not picking, just wondering why you mounted the rear billsteins at that angle?

Tin Bender
07-11-2002, 09:52 AM
The rear shocks were within an inch of toping and bottom'n... So a little angle helps to stay within range of movement... (looks cool too:smokin: )

Links are WAY cool, I'll give you that.
BUT, for keep'n it simple and giving yourself ALOT less "things" to break or go wrong, YOU CAN'T BEAT A LEAF...

There were several people who had link problems last weekend, BENT ARMS, BLOWN JOINTS, Ect.

The "skins" were made to follow more of the "stock" body lines.. Try'n to keep it real, and keep (as best we can) the lines and look of a Zuk....

Only thing that has me thinking about getting rid of the leafs is the approach angles. Had a few instances where the spring was forced into a rock which lifted the whole rig and started to tweak the spring. Seems to only be a problem when I am breaking a new trail and don't know the lines yet. I could live with it if replacement springs were readily available for cheap. Is a traction bar required with the XJ's? they look like thicker leafs than the YJ's, could just be the pics.

Tin Bender
07-11-2002, 06:26 PM
The leafs look to be thick'r... There was NO axle wrap problems, like with the YJ's... And have'n inboard'd the springs 5" per side, there was no need to remove the spring clamps to get the same/better flex..

38's would fix that. 33 and 35" Boggers are smaller than advertised.

Rude, how tall are you 37" boggers? I heard mention somewhere than a 37" bogger is like 35.4" tall - but I think it was in a magazine, and we all know better than to trust the moronic drivel they call tire reviews and sizing. :shaking:

And interco lies on their tires sizing worse than many other companies, so I can't trust them either. How tall are yours, on what wheel width?

They are just over 36" tall on a 10 rim...They are taller than a 36" tsl or SX
