yes they will fit on the older model, in fact you could also use 350/5.7l brackets on the 4.3 if you needed too.

Just make sure you're using all the brackets from the same year motor, and the water pump from that motor too. The late 80's and newer GM brackets aren't as bad, but for the older stuff, I like to get everything from one "virgin" motor that hasn't been swapped or switched or anything. GM made 4.6 billion different combinations of pulleys, brackets and water pumps, and almost none of them will work if mismatched, they'll bolt up, but belts will be flying any RPM over 3000.

VERY good to know, i looked at it last night and saw that it should bolt up. cant i just change the waterpump pully instead of the whole thing? id like to use the newer style brackets cuz of the serpentine belt and i kinda fawked the ones on there now up cuz i used the brackets to pull the motor at pick n pull cuz i didnt have anything else. i think im gonna leave all this stuff till rebuild it and put everything back together.

if you switch from v-belts to a serpentine belt, You must change the water pump to match the belt set-up you are using. the serpentine belt spins the water pump in the opposite direction of the v-belts, with the wrong pump you will be turning it backwards, this would apply to the engine fan as well.
