I was planning on doing this later, but it seems that "I'm a loser baby, so why don't [I just do it now]"....

A guy walks into the shop yesterday to pick up his wheels. I hadn't gotten them since UPS takes more than one day to ship things from Texas....anyway, I think that was just a reason to come in and he starts asking about coils. Specifically he wants the 8" coils from an early bronco for the rear of his Scout II (has 42s). So we start talking about this and that....wishbone 3-links and stuff...and then he says hes getting some of these coils from $WPs. It turns out that the 67-77 Early Broncos have the same coils as the 78-79 broncos...except that the 8.5" lift for the EB is the same coils from 6" lift for the Full-size bronco (78-79).

He goes on to tell me that he just ordered the springs from $WPs and they wanted $144 for them (pair). "Hum..." I think, "hold on." so I call my suplier and find that I could sell them for $130 no sweat...so I tell him, and he says 'bring them in'. So they'll be here today.

Now, I haven't posted any pictures, but I have the coil buckets and spring retainers (top and bottom) for Snoopy's front axle. Now i'm thinking that PERHAPS I can simply get two sets and make it a long weekend and by the end I'll have our 3-link and coils up front..... Hum... RMIHR is next weekend....what to do ....what to do...

What are you guy'z Thoughts? And should I go with SuperLift or SkyJacker springs. My personal favorite is SkyJackers, these springs are SuperLift...but I've never had any experience with them....Anyone here have and thoughts on SuperLift springs

I'll post some pictures when they come in...that'll be about 11am.

Yep, my friends run 78/79 coils in their EB's.. good for 2" of lift.. some trimming.. and 35s. :D

Well, there's the other friend with a 4" lift on his EB and 44" Fun Countries..

Yet another rig that shows you don't need a flexy suspension to go wheelin'. The sidewalls probably flex more than the suspension does..

and I like cornfed's idea.. don't dirty up your Scout with Ford parts. :D

I have a set of 4" lift coils for a 78-79 Bronco. Wanna buy 'em cheap?? $75.00 :D:D:D I'll ship 'em for $100.00

Anyway, they are skyjackers, I had 'em on the front of my Blazer they were nice and Squishy I loved it, although I think most would say they were too soft. That's why I ran my rs9000's prety stiff.

EDIT: They have less than 100 miles on them :D

Hey, isn't it funny that I can buy new ones cheaper than a set of used (if you include shipping) or at least within $20....

Note: I said $130 was what I can SELL them for...not what I can GET them for :p

COME AWWN.

You own a big bad successful 4x4 shop - what's dropping $1000 on your own rig? Chump change for you, right? It's just another advertising expense...
Heck, you should have your employees busy building the shop ARCA rig for more free magazine exposure and stuff..

Oops my bad. Well they're just sitting here in a garage I store my stuff in. How about $75 shipped?

If you get 'em cheaper than that!!! :flipoff2:

i have the ford suspension on my jeep. at first i used 4" Rancho springs and the were way to stiff, then i looked into progressive rate springs at a 4x4 shop but the owner said i should try xj coils, so i did and they are great. the spring rate is 250psi less than the ford springs and they bolt right into the ford buckets. if you're going coil in the rear i think these would work better than ford. just my 2cents

Its on my list when The ScoutII get a bobjob. Im gonna run TJ coils tho for the rear. Keep the Skyjackers on the front. Wishbone on top with trialing arms.BTW WOLF359 uses the TJ coils too.

Don't you think these will be a little stiff for the rear?, Since they are nice and soft for the FRONT of yours?

Anyway, who cares what you Jeep guys think:flipoff2:

HAHAHAH ;) Im keepin' my mouth shut about that ;) but the XJ springs may well be a better choice for the rear. Overall its a lighter front than the bronco.

Well, I'd think about it but then I'd have to replace everything with Scout and Chevy power train. Yep, I'd have to replace everything but the stereo and springs....the spring I'd keep. Oh...and maybe the seats...ya...the seats so my big-ol-butt is comfy.

Well I have a toyota buggy and I run E.B. James Duff 3.5 inch lift coils on the front. I can attest to the fact there there is a HUGE difference in coils when it comes to whatever ford you have. My buddy ran some 6 inch rancho coils on his later Bronco and was getting rid of them so I tried them in my toy and they were waaaaay too stiff! I also tried on a set of sky jacker's and an old set of trail ready coils and they were aweful! So I got the progressive James Duff coils and they flex really nicely but offer the stability and lack of body roll that I wanted. Jeep coils are hella soft, especially in a scout application and I would not recommend them. I would recommend a progressive coild I think I paid 130-140 for mine. Rides hella nice. You don't need such a long spring just make your top coil buckets low!
