This may seem like a noob question but I cant seem to find anyone who offers extended emergency brake cables for 14 boltff with the original drum brakes. I did a search and all i could find was info on disc brake swaps with e brakes.

how far are you trying to extend them? give us some help, we can help you.

how much did you lift it?

why are you not thinking about installing a simple set of rear discs? Is having a parking brake a priority for you?

I live in hill country, on a hill, with a steep driveway, and I dont use a parking brake. I dont have a manual trans, either.

I have a 5-6 inch lift but my alxe is moved back about 2 inches so the cables were really streched. I have sleds and I tow stuff with the truck too so having an emengency brake is a priority. even in park when you load a snowmobile onto the truck if it rocks back and fourth even just a little the ramps can fall down creating a verry dangerous situation. The truck has all new parts in the rear drums and they work great so I cant justify doing a disc swap yet.

understood.

you might be able to move the brackets back a couple inches and take up the adjustment in the line.

I had the same problen with mine with 7 inches of lift. I welded onto the existing cable brackets that hold the cable in front of the axle. I extended them down and back a few inches. Works great.:) I also found that some cables are longer than others,(the ones that hook to the backing plates) so you could check the wrecking yards. I have never seen an aftermarket kit either.

I went to a shop that repairs industrial equipment like cranes and they made me a new cable that is far stronger than stock. It took them 5 mins.

Like they said, move the brackets closer, then make a longer cable for the run from the ends to the pedal cable. I have 1 truck that I made a longer cable out of 2 cablesbb that I clamped together with small ubolt style cable clamps and it has held up for years.

Try the newer 84 and up parking brake cable from the drivers side i used 2 one on each side and i have penty of slack with a 6-8 inch lift. I bought mine from lmctruck and worked very well the part number for it is #34-3882 for the 13 inch brakes and #34-3880 for the 11 5/8 brakes hope this helps
