: Weekend Report: 3/14-3/16
NVScouter 03-16-2008, 10:19 PM 3 Days of Scout bliss! Wife left me a lone, only broke my welding hood, and most parts fit!
SOA completed, lots of IHC stuff moved, parted, etc. I'll order my steering stuff in the AM. I'm going to attempt to tap my box for the ram this week. Brakes, driveshafts, and cage then its on!
Rant on: I hate paying $$ for parts that don't fit worth a shit and having to cut them in half, remove .5" and weld them back up. That and it has been so long I forgot that the same vendor still owed me another U-bolt plate. That crap blew the junkyard time I had hoped for alone. Rant off.
Binderbasher............look familiar?
binderbasher 03-16-2008, 11:31 PM Binderbasher............look familiar?[/QUOTE]
Yup, yup... Its looking good, my scout has been sitting in the driveway feeling neglected for the last couple of weeks:shaking:.
Diesel Smoke 03-17-2008, 02:33 AM Saturday: Slept in late after a night out with a friend, finished up some work on some Great Western Binder Bee art and got ready and went to work.
Sunday: Helped a co-workers husband diagnose a problem with his MR2, parts we'll be in next week and we'll be fixing it. It's so odd to work on a forign car after wrenching on IH's for so long. Everything is smaller and hard to get to. At least the engine is in the middle so it didn't get in the way. After that watched the Bristol race on fast forward from the DVR, got ready and went to work. Missed out on Binderbounds rager of a birthday party:(
Pretty stock sucky weekend for me. Saw Scout Broker's end product after his SOA with his scout. Thought about the Gm 44 housing I have sitting at my parents house just waiting for me to bust the knuckles off of it. Figure if I start working on it in April I may have it done for Binder Bee 2010:shaking:.
Mechanos 03-17-2008, 08:03 AM Went to Fugly's place and set my camper on the front of my GN. It's just ghetto rachet strapped down for now.... I working out just how I'm going to bolt it down. Also spent a little time working on the spare tire winch for the trailer. Pics here (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=667266)
uglyscout 03-17-2008, 08:42 AM Sat: Lite wheeling with the Scout club. No great pics, no great damage on my part.
Sun: B-day BBQ at Binderbounds place. :D
Took a car to Pick-N-Pull, humm that's different, normally I just bring chit home.
Made a battery mount to fix the issue from last weekend's wheeling. The stock "tin" base bent up which allowed the rod to lean over and short out on the side battery post. A piece of fuel line will prevent that and I used lock nuts on everything too.
Sunday watch the air show and had a good time.
Snoopy 03-17-2008, 10:27 AM NICE Terra ~ reminds me of mine ~ Its :smokin:

binderbound 03-17-2008, 11:03 AM Sat- led a 'supposed' stock friendly trail ride that turned into massive cluster fuck. Deep snow, closed trails, and inexperianced wheelers made the day semi crazy. We all had fun, it just didnt go the way I had hoped.
Scout Broker's first time out. Yes, I popped his 'real' wheeling cherry.

Possablity of moving down the street in a month. Nice big house with a large garage! finally.... :smokin:

Buck Dodson 03-17-2008, 06:19 PM Hosted a birthday party for my 80 year old Mom in Portland. She is the youngest of 4, and all made the party (one all the way from New Jersey).
Great time.
ih4ever 03-17-2008, 06:58 PM did nothing scout related... just didnt get up the energy to do too much of anything this weekend...:(:shaking:
ChiScouter 03-17-2008, 07:10 PM Thursday was at a rifle range, shot a 33 chevy, and a 34 Studebaker full of holes with a 45 glock and 1906 springfield, more info on that next year this time:D
Sun went to the boneyard and found this laying on the ground in the ice but the doner was nowhere to be found. Anyone know what it is?
Also found the contractor top with 4 pristine doors, 17"x 45.5" per door, now I have to find a use for them or find a sucker to sell them to:flipoff2:
Then went to my moms and decided to push the pontoon boat into the lake with the garden tractor, sorry no pics, but I got the tractor stuck on the beach and had to drag a winch down the hill to pull the tractor out. The Ice heaved the boat lift 2 ft so the boat won't moor properly, and will be a clusterfuck to get back in place, 4 hour monkey fawk for that:mad3: Forgot to set the alarm today and was 2 hrs late for work. Once at work had to start covering up the bullet holes from thursdays fun
Shadow man 03-17-2008, 07:36 PM Thursday was at a rifle range, shot a 33 chevy, and a 34 Studebaker full of holes with a 45 glock and 1906 springfield, more info on that next year this time:D
Gansta Movie? Or Bonnie and Clyde? We had the trucks and that were shot up in the Bridge scene in the Untouchables movie. Also the Ford Tri-motor plane.
Just getting ready for Moab EJS myself. Friggin Colorado has some Bullshit emission laws on Diesels. 30% opacity max. :shaking: No problem, I'll turn it down, run it through and back up it goes.
Colorado Dave 03-17-2008, 07:40 PM I heard colorado was dropping emissions this year.
gustav129 03-17-2008, 08:13 PM Sat - A day of wheeling to celebrate St. Patty's Day and to take my new Traveler out. Came home to find out that we were babysitting for a now old friend. They are Mexican, so they have me, the Irishman through my mom's side of the family, stay home so they can party on MY holiday. Wait until Cinco De Mayo bitches, you are babysitting my cat. /Rant
Sun- Slept in until noon, and then signed up for a church softball league.
CabtopXLC 03-17-2008, 08:31 PM Fixed the power trim/tilt on the incredible sinking bass boat. Cleaned house. Thought about finishing the rear axle ARB install for the DD. Didn't get the STaK this week. Something about being at the EJS. Should have it before the end of the month.
Harvester of Sorrow 03-17-2008, 08:57 PM HOS-
Those cross town moves are worse that moving across the country. When will you be in the new place?
Tell me about it...I am moving only about 6.5 miles from where I live now...and it feels like I am moving overseas...:shaking:
At least it is a chance to weed through some of the shit I have collected the past 4 years...
I will have some tech to post when I move though...it will involve a Scout and a Uhaul truck...
Mechanos 03-17-2008, 09:50 PM Messed around in the garage tonight since it's cold and rainy outside. Sliced up some 10° beveled washers out of a piece of 0.75" DOM for a little "busy work" project I'm working on. Simple and easy with the right saw.
Scout Broker 03-17-2008, 10:11 PM Sun went to the boneyard and found this laying on the ground in the ice but the doner was nowhere to be found. Anyone know what it is?
That is a door hinge bracket for a Scout SSII. It bolted to the fiberglass door insert. There were two steel round stock "hinges" that slipped into the round barrels of that bracket you found.
SCOUTMAN67 03-18-2008, 11:20 AM Thursday was at a rifle range, shot a 33 chevy, and a 34 Studebaker full of holes with a 45 glock and 1906 springfield, more info on that next year this time:D

Is it just me, or does that car look way too nice to be shooting up?
-Gary
Shadow man 03-18-2008, 11:26 AM I heard colorado was dropping emissions this year.
Dave, I passed EASILY. :smokin: I love these old CTDs. Just turn down the pump and the old Dog passes. I blew a 59% in AZ. Turned down to Pass emissions here, it was 12%. Limit in CO is 30%. I have about 350,000 miles on it too. The odometer broke over two years ago at 310,000 miles.
The great thing is my old POS CTD will out pull my Daughter's New 6.7 CTD. She is really mad about that. :D
Mechanos 03-18-2008, 12:41 PM Is it just me, or does that car look way too nice to be shooting up?

The movie industry doesn't give a shit about that sort of thing. They'd shoot up 60 of those old cars if they thought they'd turn a profit at the box office.
Snoopy 03-19-2008, 11:46 AM Colorado springs did drop emissions. No more emissions in Colo. Springs. Denver is a different story.
Yes, that car is too nice to be shot up.
ChiScouter 03-19-2008, 06:58 PM That is a door hinge bracket for a Scout SSII. It bolted to the fiberglass door insert. There were two steel round stock "hinges" that slipped into the round barrels of that bracket you found.
Not to often that you find one laying on the ground in a boneyard these days. Too bad because the SSII inserts were in near perfect cond when I first spied the rig. When I found the rig stripped in the yard I had hoped the guy had removed the inserts well, but from looking at the hinge it looks like he destroyed at least one of the inserts while removing them:eek: I did get the 2 aluminum angles that run down the windshield frame, the dash with the grommets, and the bracket that runs along the top of the windshield. I might know a guy who may know a guy who grabbed the vin tag:laughing: I found the hinge weeks after the truck was crushed just laying there
Look closely at the car, pretty advanced rack and pinion steering on that coil spring IFS isn't it?. It was purchased as a long dormant street rod project with no interior or powertrain. The entire roof structure from the window sills up was scabbed in from another car, there is no interior floor, and the lower couple of inches of the body is swiss cheese. The running boards, fenders, and hood ara all brand new. Paint is just quick and cheap. Im actually hacking the shit out of a 1 year newer car right now that is completely original but far from pristine. The first few hours were kind of awkward, but now its just all business trying to get our work done. At least another dozen or more to follow, one a IH 2 ton truck.
jdjanda 03-19-2008, 08:03 PM Went wheeling, beat the piss out of what remains for body. Time to clip the front and drop some weight.
