If it makes you feel any better that's what I torque them too (75-85) whenever I reinstall a carrier and no one has complained yet of burnt up bearings (myself included) :D

Call Randy's and they can confirm.

I just confirmed w/ Foothills they said it's good.

Bearing caps. I'm interested to know how many revolution difference there is between 60 & 75 ft-lbs. Care to enlighten us mkbruin? I'm thinking like 1/4 turn or less.

aaarrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh this god damn........

anyways...I put them to roughly 70. yep, man, roughly 1/4 of a turn, maybe slightly less.

so I put everything back together, drop her down, don't turn it on, just put the clutch in to let her roll back a little....and the damned thing sounds like it has no oil in it.

there is a metal on metal whirring noise from the front end now...sort of the sound like when you have a brake pad dragging.
don't tell me I f'ed this up somewhere along the way......
