I want to convert my Q-jet 350 to fuel injected. The motor is freshly rebuilt but pretty well stock and plan to leave it that way.

I just want to put a fuel injection system on for rock crawling. Whats the best bang for the buck. Holly Projection,http://www.affordable-fuel-injection.com/,,,, or what else.

Did a search already give me all your thoughts.

Might want to look into propane. I have everything you need to do the conversion minus hoses and fittings. You can do propne for a fraction of the price of fuel injection.

I agree. Best bang for the buck would be propane in my opinion. Especially if its trail only.

I'll GIVE you my entire TBI engine if you'll buy me a propane kit!

MegaSquirt is inexpensive if you can handle it.

Go to the local pick n pull and grab a TBI system.

Less then a propane system and better MPG.
Plus you can get parts at any store or junkyard.
There are also more gas stations then propane stations near the trails.

But propane is good for offroad only...much better then a carb.

i have less than $100 a tbi coversion on one truck (w/o fuel pump). parts are every where and you can convert a wiring harness by yourself.

I'm currently striping a doner car (93 caprice) of the TBI, harness, and PCM, everything. To install in my 78 trail truck. It would really save some cash if you had a complete doner. All those sensors and misc crap gets expensive.

If you decide to convert to TBI, check out this link (http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/tbi350.php). You will find more answers than you ever thought to ask.

I dont want propane and dont have time do look for a junk yard tbi system. Plus the junk yards around here think there sitting on a pot of gold and they sell everything for 3 times of what its worth.

I would rather just buy a new system.

david29 check out this link recommended byAERONUTT. It is pretty detailed and I get the impression he used and simplified a stock wiring harness on this.

The link above goes to the IH8MUD site. I really don't see anything detailed about FI conversion in that article other then he posted links to the diagrams off the DIYEFI board.

But someone on a heep site must have linked the BB site...a lot of 258 guys popping up!!

I was referring specifically to the wiring diagrams and wires that were used and the indication he used the stock loom. The stuff I saw was enough to convince me it is doable and not beyond the grasp of an idiot like me.

The reason I asked here was to get opinions on different set ups and see what everyone runs. And the goods and bads of all the bolt on injection systems on the market.

My opinion is the stock TBI. You can install big block injectors if you want more fuel, they are plentiful, inexpensive and easy to find.

propane only stinks when its not tuned right. Same as a gas setup.

More fuel isn't the issue so much as more air. That's why they sell hogged out standard throttle bodies or people swap on the 454 TB. Of course both of these options will require a tune.
