I have a 1984 Chevy pickup truck, 1/2 Ton 4WD and it's got a 10 bolt rear end.

I want to order a locker but I'm not sure of the spline count.

Without pulling the axle is there a way to determine wether it is a 28 or 30 spline ?

Stock is 28 spline.... but who knows if your rear end is stock.

Pull the axle and check.

It is stock but I believe they changed from 28 to 30 at some point in time.

If that's the case what year might that be ?

if it is an 84 its still 28 it wasn't till I believe it was when they changed the body style when they changed the spline count also.

They changed from 28 spline to 30 spline in 89.
