I have been restoring/restomodding an old Crew Crew cab. It came with a gooseneck hitch in the bed and a receiver mounted in the back at 45 degrees. ????? (this truck has had some VERY oddball stuff on it).

Was there ever a reason to do something like this? Or is this just another random crazy thing with this old truck?

Here are a couple of pictures....

First one you can just make it out with the D-Ring hanging off of it with the bed off the truck.

Here it is out of the garage for the first day. (yes it will get paint). You can see I stuck a receiver mount winch up in the receiver so you can see the location and angle.

Was it ever truck pulled in like a stock gas class? Pullers do odd things to get it to hook to the ground.

if used for truck pulling it would act like the drawbar on a tractor...it would take the load and transfer it into the front of the chassis creating tracion and downpressure....and yeh it would be a good tow point but either make a new one or a seperate one...that winch will get tore up real fast

Winch will not be mounted there. Just stuck it in there to keep it off the floor and out of my way while working on the truck.

It may have been a previous owners attempt at a hidden hitch.

(yes it will get paint).

if people are worried about paint, theyre in the wrong recreational format.

nice build on this truck. Been following, and I appreciate the effort you have been putting into it. Keep it up.

As for the hitch, i would replace it with a good draw-tite if possible.
why someone would set it up that way is something I could only guess at.
