Hey guys-
I started a petition to save Johnson Valley. I thought it would be nice to have a little ammunition, especially since many folks cant make the long drive to the meeting in El Cajon.

(If it asks for a donation, just close the page. Your signature was received. :))
PLEASE pass this around!
Ill print it out on Saturday morning before we leave. The more we can get in these few days the better, however, I will not take it down until we are finished with our cause.

Thanks Tam! :) I saw this on another site & signed it then.
Do you guys plan on stopping by my house prior to going to the meeting. Coffee & donuts....... :D
I live ~1/4 mile from Cuyamaca College and 100% will be going to the meeting. I think you or Chris has my number - if not, let me know.

Signed earlier today, but just wanted to post that the word is getting out and spreading. GreatLakes4x4.com (http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=82277) probably has a very low percentage of people that have ever been to the Hammers, or actually will ever make it. But support is called for in thier forum. I was going to post it myself on their board, but when I arrived to do so...I found it was already done!!
Could this finally be the issue that unites most of the offroad community???
THANK YOU GL4X4.COM!!!

To confirm things:
Today I went into the conference rooms where we're suppose to have this meeting on Saturday. I counted the seats. There's ~180 seats plus a few for the folks who sit at the front table (like the Congressman).
So, there's not much seating available unless Steve (who works at the college) opens up another curtain and expands the conference area.
Also, since it's a holiday weekend, I was told the second floor coffee shop, is expected to be closed.
Expect some security folks to be doing their thing.

signed petition. i went a little crazy on the comments. hopefully someone reads it.
The proposal for the federal govt. to seize control of the land used as an ohv park called Johnson Valley for supposed 'military training' is outrageous. There are many more acres of land availabe that the marine core could establish for themselves but instead they want to take it from the people(ohv users). In a time where 4wd access is questioned unfairly and vigourously everywhere the Hammers is a sanctuary. Furthermore, closing additional 4wd routes will put more environmental impact on a dwindling number of trails and lead to the closure of all areas so the ohv user will have no place to recreate. But this seems to be the perogotive of the federal govt. these days. Don't ask, just take. After all we're just the little people, and who's to say no to machine that has forgotton that it's supposed to be for the people and not out for itself. I support the military, but there is some seriously bad decisions being made by the military brass these days. I urge that Johnson Valley remain open to all ohv users and that a growing effort by our govt. to establish new trails is undertaken.

A BIG thanks goes out to all who signed the petition and to Tam who started it!
I literally have it in my hands again, and will be turning it back over to the Congressmans staff after copies are made. We don't want this to accidentally get lost in the shuffle or anything like that.
Mr. Hunter and his staff was VERY impressed that it was presented to them and value every signature on it.
Again, thanks for all the support! It's much appreciated.

Thanks Joe :) Youre all very welcome. I just saw a need and filled it. Time was of the essense.
Thank you for presenting it. Im just not a good public speaker.
I think it will make a difference :) Its continuing to grow everyday. Maybe we can get an email address from someone and continually send them updates?
