oh, ok, i gotcha.

you have the old style flat cap with the two ears that twists on 1/2 a turn.

easy fix is to install a filler neck from an 87 chevy pickup. screw in clicking style locking cap. no leaky.

Sounds steep, I would suggest a different approach to break in new gears....as in an easy ride...:D

Is your present tank vented in anyway? Is it under press? My tank is vented and drips when filled to the point the pump clicks off.......it is vented by mother nature and her rust wand to the top of the tank. I can't see the very top.....but I imagine I have many little pin holes.....:(

so dumb question... so it would be an 87 or newer p/u right?

85 to 87 would all have the same design neck with the screw on cap. maybe some before that too.

after 87, the design changed, im sure. they went to a different body style.

My 81 Suburban has the click on cap. I had to put one on its auxiliary tank also, the filler is in the left rear wheelwell and leaked if on an uphill angle.
