will 4.10 gears, stand rotation, work with a 3.54 carrier, Dana 60 rear? I was told that the 4.10 and down (numerically) carriers are all the same.
I cant get my assembled carrier with new 4.10 s ,to drop in all the way, like its to tight to the pinion or something.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take it to Sean @ river city differentials.
Sorry, I can't help you much. Sounds like you are right about most axles at 4.10 down and vice versa. But, I prefer to leave the diff's to the professionals.

A. Are you certain the ring and pinion are a match. Just to be sure, you don't still have the 3.54 pinion installed, correct?
B. You could have too much pinion depth.
C. You may have the carrier preloaded with shims too far to the left. This will be exagerated if the pinion is too deep. The ring gear should just touch the pinion w/o carrier preload(spread), and then end up at around .006" to .010" b/l when the left side is shimmed for carrier preload. Who assembled the carrier and ring gear, and how did they determine the shims?
