I saw this on another board and im not sure what those lines are that run to the axle tubes? looks like a diff breather (yes its not in the diff) or some form of way to keep the shafts oiled  i dont know but my flame suit is on i guess. whats it for?

My best guess would be breather.

My second guess would be return hoses from a diff cooler.

Seems like something that fancy would have to be for the diff cooler. A breater doesn't need anywhere near that amount of engineering.

I'm pretty sure it's a breather, it's common in race setups. This is the breather setup on our truck. The nicer fittings and hose hold up better and it's real important to let the rear end breathe.

91 and lakeview. We run two hoses for better breathing. When gear oil gets hot it expands and also can create moisture and it needs a place to go. It's the key to longevity in a rear end. It's really only nessecary in extreme conditions like racing.

My thinking was, if you're going to buy all those sexy fittings and braided hose, why connect them to the Y? the point of having 2 breather hoses like your set-up is so that if one gets clogged the other one will still vent the diff, at least how we set up the breather on the race truck, it's all about redundency.
