They dont need very strong front ends cause they rarely touch the ground, they dont have to turn at all, and they need the weight advantage. Alot of them run Toyota axles too!

Edit: and they dont have super low gears. ;)

What about the 4.11 gears in front, and 4.56 in the rear? I thought theoretically they are to be within a few % in ratio.

Overall, I liked it, except for the rat's nest of a wiring mess.

That is to account for having smaller tires in the front. :D

Pretty good lookin' Pro Stocker, though that wiring is a nightmare. I'm wondering WTF it's all for since there's not that much on one of those machines that needs power. I'm not sure who it is that owns that, but he's been around a LONG time if his NMRO # is 537. They're up over #2,500 now.

And yeah, the rearend takes 90% of the abuse, so that's why the 30/60 setup. That's actually probably about the most common setup for the "Modified" class guys, though this guy's a step down in "Pro Stock" where I'd venture to say a 44/60 or 44/9" combo would be more common.

The guy that owns it must be a union electrician

In that pic, is that a guard around the gas peddle? Is that to keep his foot from bouncing off the peddle

Yup. That actually happened to a friend of mine in Springfield, MO in May. Then, when her husband ran, he set a new national record - which might have been hers if her foot hadn't slipped D'OHH!!!

More than likely, it's a single-speed chain drive. He'll also likely have his diffy's filled with tranny fluid for less resistance than 90W.

I was mistaken:

"The transfer case is a Independent Pro Fab Quick Change Transfer Case with 12 sets of quick change gears and up to 40 different variations."
