OK I have searched about every forum till I am blue in the face. This past weekend I turned my front Tie-Rod and draglink into spegetti. So I need to know who makes a complete steering kit for a TJ that is worth the money. The only I have found is the Down East offroad one. Any comments on it. Or URLS of other would be great. I just am looking for a solution that is better than stock. I ran stock for over a year with 35's and finally broke it.
Thanks

You can use the stock drag link and make a new tie rod out of DOM tubing and that works good. A friend of mine is running his like that and he has had no problems with it for over a year now.

The only problem I have found with the stock drag link is that it tends to bend over time. Actually the bend down by the passenger side knuckle straightens out and causes the tie rod end ,where it connects to the drag link, to rub on the lower track bar mount.
Currie makes a stock replacement made out of chro-mo that is supposed to be stronger. Down East seems to be the most complete kit and I think Mike Stump is/was making a kit for the TJ.

Why Currie?
a V8 ZJ tie rod is a pretty good upgrade for a TJ. Cheap as hell, too.
I've got a friend running one w/ 37" MTR's & another buddy sitting on 35's w/ it... it's probably worth a look.

I need really the drag link only, as mine looks like spegatti. It bent on the passenger side. I have the RE tie-Rod, but figuered why not upgrade to something better for the whole steering setup.
Anyone have the URL for the Currie stuff, I looked on tehre site and didn't see it.

I think that you are on the right path by not going back to the stock drag link. As mentioned, it flattens out at the pasenger side knuckle and it also has a tendency to bend and snap at the adjuster threads. Running a hd tie rod with the stocker only speeds up the time it takes to accomplish one or both of these tasks.

I bent that mess up in Big Sluice last year and the DL finally snapped on me after I crested Cadillac Hill. PITA way to finish off a trip :D
I don't know anything about Rockstomper stuff but I currently have the new Currie set-up and the draglink is quite stout. I've given it a good work-out on Sledgehammer and Pumpkin Eater and it seems to be holding up just fine. Bolted it up and set the toe in about 45 minutes.

The rock stonper doesnt show a T-Style Drag and Tie like you will need on the TJ? How does Rock stonper attacher there drag to the tie?
Ive looked into spherical bearings "heims" for awhile and Polly performance seamse to be great. I like the Quality of the joints.
Yes go with DOM tubing the .2 thickness is good, go what ever diamater you have clearance for and can fit a weld in incert into.
You could also drill out your knuckles and flop your tie rod over the knulckle and relocate your track bar.

He is I just saw a picture but can't find the URL now. There are some mods but it looks easy. We can get these.

Please explain to me why and how it would straighten out. I have bent mine twice now. The stock bend just keeps going. So why will it straighten? I just don't get it.
