: TRE's, Tube adaptors & HySTEER
REDDMANIAC 07-11-2002, 06:53 PM Alright folks, I need help now. I need to make a draglink for my D60 front. Ill be using my stock pitman arm so I need to know what TRE can use for that part or should it be reamed. What TRE's are recommended. I dont mind using the 3/4 ton TRE's either.

You can ream the stock Scout arm also. OS has the part #'s commited to memory.

TRE Part Number ES150R (from napa or advanced or checker, or ...)
This is the same taper as your stock joints but has a 3/4"-16 (i think) thread ~ so its standard and a little more beefy, very easy to come by and CHEAP. This is the same TRE as we (as well as Gryphin) use on our draglinks. Pertee stout little things...It just depends on how big you want to go. I think Snoopy is getting the 1 1/4" TREs....WHY:question: you ask...because you only buy them once...ONLY ONCE.
REDDMANIAC 07-14-2002, 10:32 PM (Sux to not know) But I am/will be using a D60 front with the Hysteer Arms, the problem really is I wanted to save some $$$ by making my own DRAGLINK so basically What & where can I buy my shiat at to make me a draglink & what TRE's to use tha will be strong enough & available at most autoparts stores. The nightmare is when I look at spidertrax prices but the ID doesnt match any of the available adapters for any of the TRE's I was thinking to use.

I bought my steering setup from Bent and Twisted. For the Tie and Drag, plus all the TRE's price was $300. The links are .375 wall DOM, with all big taper 1-Ton TRE's. I priced out a setup from Spider Trax for about ~240, with .250 wall DOM. I'd rather spend the extra $60 to have the kit ready to go. Mike at B&T should be able to answer your questions, and provide the smaller taper TRE with the kit if you go that route.

Old Scout 07-14-2002, 11:31 PM All the 60 arms I've seen use a large taper TRE and it's 7/8". So I guess your DL will have large taper 7/8" on one end and medium taper 3/4-16 " on the other.
The cheapest place for The ES 150L and ES150R is the stock car suppliers like Stockcarproducts.com there ~15.00
Scout Dude 07-15-2002, 09:43 AM I made my own steering and here is what it would cost:
~$40/ea 2x ES2010R -- 7/8-18 right hand thread TRE
~$40/ea 2x ES2010L -- 7/8-18 left hand thread TRE
$7/ea 2x left hand jam nuts
$7/ea 2x right hand jam nuts
$50 1.25 x .219 DOM tubing material (9 ft)
$25 7/8-18 right hand tap
$120 7/8-18 left hand tap
total: $383
However, I didn't have to buy the right hand tap or all of the jam nuts so I didn't spend this much. Also, you would need to ream out your Pitman arm...which I suggest doing instead of putting weaker TRE's on a D60. Another goo point is that I can continue to fab more of these in the future..in fact, I have already made a tierod for my roommates truck...how 'bout those apples?:flipoff2:
O-yeah..Grady at extreme gear also sells his own made jam nuts for about $3 each...
Harvester of Sorrow 07-15-2002, 10:20 AM YEAH....
Next week I am making my link. I am going to use two of the ES150R's though. My company does not have a left hand 3/4-16 tap....gotta go with what you have right?
Yes I understand that if I want to adjust shit I will have to take off the link! But really why would I have to mess around with the measurment that much?
Also I was going to go with SOLID SS round but have revised my thinking and am going to go with SS tube.

I dunno if this link will work..but try it anyway..if not, back up until you get the main page and then search for the left hand tapshttp://www.victornet.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/cgi-bin/product.pl?U+scstore+sbij6183+PLcommand=listproduc ts&PLresultspage=/productlist.html&PLtoolsubgroup=Taps,%20Left%20Hand:620,605&PLtoolgroup=Taps,%20Left%20Hand%22
3/4-16 LH tap is only $14..why not buy it and do it right?
