Has anybody tried one yet?
Just wondering if they work as well as they say they do.

Haven't / wouldn't run one, but from everything I've heard/seen, it really isn't anything super special over the normal avenger carb.

I've got a backwards-mounted q-jet on my SBC, and it idles rough, but idles, will respond to throttle quickly and accurately, at 30+ degrees up / down and 30 over.

Also had it more than 45 over (was sitting on the exo-cage), slightly downhill, and it ran well, would rev fine.

Summary: from what i can tell, if I can get oil pressure, it'll run.

It's not FI...but it works for now until I can go FI.

I've never heard of running one backwards. How/Why is this better than running it normal??

The main jets are at the front of the float bowl. Running it backwards keeps them in the fuel. I have had some problems with mine sucking air when you get it nosed up about 45degrees. At least when they suck air runngin bacwards your going down hill.

Yup, what he said. total cost was around $20.. a few feet of fuel hose, and a carb adapter that was ground out to allow the secondaries to open where the primaries normally do.

I figured it was worth a shot, since it was cheap, and I was getting pissed about starving for fuel when I need it most... now it starves when i care the least :D

I have a Holley 750 on my truck and I must be really lucky or something. My truck never misses on angle, uphill, downhill, and a few weeks ago I was crawling over something to the point where people thought I was going to roll on my side and I never missed a beat. I have the off road needle and seat but aside from that, nothing special.

I know what your sayin'. No rocks here so I know I don't run the angles you guys do. Why have a carb on a rockcrawler anyway?

That's slick. Hmmm got me thinking.
Se here is what pisses me off. My 75 Quad keeps doing that to me on steep hills. My 79 has NEVER done that to me ever. Now the 79 is where they went to the more or less closed float bowl with the EVAP fitting on the front of the carb. THe 75 just vents out the top. The resto of the carb is almost Identical. Both have the baffle in the float bowl The only thing I can figure is happening is because the shape of the top of the float bowl is different that it is allowing enough fuel to slosh back that it sucks air. Unfortunaly I can't simply swap the carbs between the two trucks since the 79 still has to see the Nazi's to get a tag. I recently found a used carb that is about the same as my 79. Going to rebuild it and see how it does. I have a 85 air cleaner that has a pick up for an air pump on the filtered side of the air cleaner. Just going to put a loop of hose to it for the float bowl vent.
