I have a 10 bolt frontend in my truck. Ive been told its not a standards 10 bolt with it having a 8 lug set up on it and the guy that I had the truck befor me said that he couldnt just go buy a standard axle out of another 10 bolt out of a bone yard he said it had to be ordered.Are there more than one type of 10 bolt fronts out there.

6 lug and 8 lug

its 8 lug all 4 corners

now there is a difference in the inner shafts.

78-87 are 28 spl

88-91 are 30 spl

the outer are all the same and the same as d44.

the 6-8 lug makes no difference at all.

well, the 6 lug wheels wont bolt on the 8 lug hubs... thats different.. oh and the brakes are different... and ... and... and...

from the knuckles in, the housing is the same. gear choices vary.

I don't know why anyone would shorten any 4wd axle unless it's in a low single seater buggy. But people do some stupid things :homer:

I have a ten bolt under my blazer right now that was originally 6 lug but I switched it to 8 lug. The axle lengths are all the same. The only diffrence may be the spline count on the inner axle shafts.
