: NP435 to Ford 5.0 question. May be stupid.

I searched and did not find an answer. That may be because the answer is obvious but I am not a Ford guy.

I have a jeep with a 258/NP435/205. What do I have to do to bolt up a 5.0 or similar to this trans? I do not know what was changed to adapt the trans to the 258.

look for mid 80's ford pickups, I had an 87 f150 efi 302 and it came with the np435 four speed factory. all you need is the bellhousing to fit and I believe it is an 11 in clutch. not positive. but just buy a clutch for that year motor and bell housing. If I were you I would find motor out of a pickup that had the manual tranny in it and just bolt it up.

inputs can be different on the trans. I do not know for sure.

What's the NP435 out of?

80's T-19 bell from a Ford 300/302/351 should set you up.

Any SBF 4spd bell should work.(t-18, t-19, NP435) Dpending on the input shaft of course.

I think it is from a mid 70s 3/4 ton.

Given that nothing was changed except the bell, that is all you have to change back then.
so one from a t18, t19 or NP435 that was behind a 300, 302 or 351.

I have a 302 standard bell housing..

I used it with an adapter to a N4500 and bolted it straight to a NP435. Never been happier.

If the NP435 is from a ford.

I would see if the bolts line up and go with it. If it is from something else, I would verify the input shaft.
