I made a switch panel.
jdjanda 03-22-2008, 08:38 PM I'm on some kind of streak, wheeled for the 3rd weekend in a row. Last weekend killed my fenders so we pinched the nose of the Scout about 6" per side.
Here are the results, 6" out of each side and minus 100#'s

Going through this section would have previously resulted in the drivers fender taking some abuse, but not any more.

SSGTWC 03-23-2008, 08:42 AM Home from school for the weekend. Just one more week of waisting my time just to change MOS's. But the money is something I can't complain about.

uglyscout 03-23-2008, 11:41 AM Got about 20 hours of remodeling done so far this weekend...
Zero Scout work.
Oh --- Happy Easter to all those that roll that way -- Happy regular ol' Sunday to all those that don't.
CabtopXLC 03-23-2008, 03:47 PM Spent the latter part of last week looking at colleges with the oldest daughter (and family). Got back Saturday. Today I worked on installing relays for the horn and high and low beams. I finished yanking out the PO's alarm system. Man someone put alot of time putting that muther in. Got the horn working. Now the truck won't start. Just one more thing to figure out
Hopefully the guys at STaK get back and finish my t-case and get it shipped out to me this week.

jpeater 03-23-2008, 07:06 PM Friday and Saturday I spent a lot of time in the garage. I finished the rear axle brake lines using 3/16" stainless tubing and 3 AN (37 degree JIC/AN), tube nuts, fittings, etc. The hoses are Russell DOT approved braided stainless from Summit and the stainless fittings are from http://www.anplumbing.com. I also managed to plumb the back half of the Scout in stainless tubing up to the firewall, well at least mocked it up anyway. Lesson learned - I should have cut the old brake lines out in sections because by the time I managed to pull it all out it was too bent up to use as much of a template. Here are a few pictures:

Don't mind the booger welds on this next picture, a grinder will polish it up. First pull of the trigger and a glowing ball of molten metal fall into the cuff of my welding jacket and onto my arm and burnt the crap out of me so the rest of the job was done in a half clinched fetal position worrying more about further scarring than weld beautification.
http://www.jpeater.com/photogallery/albums/userpics/10002/DSCN1583_003_%28Medium%29.JPG
Also tried to install a Stage 8 X-lock in my Warn FF converted rear Dana 44 and they don't fit. I need to either not worry about it and send them back or have someone machine down the nut 3/16" so it clears the back side of the hub. Slick little things, just wish it would have worked.
Sunday I spent the day assembling a work bench and cleaning up the garage, overall the weather was great and I had a good time, burn and all.
Tahcustomscout 03-23-2008, 09:10 PM I just spent the weekend with the kids and enjoyed some nice weather.:D
ih4ever 03-23-2008, 09:57 PM vacuumed out my ford and washed it... :flipoff2::flipoff2::shaking:

To be fair, two workers from El Savador did most of the work (cheap).
Diesel Smoke 03-24-2008, 02:07 AM Friday: Road tripped with Binderbound to Florence to get a customer's TJ, came home and went over to my parents house to meet up with my Dad. Dad and I headed down to a new IHSTO member's house to do some light welding for him in exchange for a Scout 80 turbo set up. Made it home at a decent hour, goofed around with my new Ipood an worked on Binder Bee art until wee hours of the morning.
Saturday: Got up early and headed out to a friends house to finish working on the damn MR2 I started working on last weekend. Spent all day trying to change the front struts and figure out why it wouldn't run. Got home really late and did laundry and went to bed.
Sunday: Easter-Easter Dinner-Work.
NVScouter 03-24-2008, 07:14 AM Hell of a Weekend here.
Friday I got about 1/2 day to work on the Scout. My parts from Jeff came in next day and I can't wait to give Jeff more business!
I cobbled up some steering to move it around the house. I cut a GM tied rod for the highsteer arms and welded that up with some angle then drilled out the dragling hole, and used a ScoutII draglink that I cut/twisted to fit. Then I made front driveshaft that came out quite nice. :grinpimp:
I was going to post pics of the steering proclaiming it to be all that and fish for noobs but then I got the call. My 35 year old Brother in Law had a heart attack.
So into town we go, get the kids and played parents for the weekend while my BIL is in the hospital.
I did however get to drive the Scout around the yard and jump it up on the rockpile in my backyard. It was fun until the stock ScoutII draglink became a boomerang:flipoff2: I started laughing my ass off and the wife just asked "What did you break?"
Sunday after I took the kids back to my Sister's I got my steering box all a part. I couldnt get the alluminum cap off the piston end since I dissassmebled it wrong. I had to drill/slide hammer it out. I was using the service manual, I should have used the internet. I was easy if you just use the steps here, the manual words it up too much. Cleaning/drilling/tapping tonight Monday.
So my weekend's conclusions:
1) Even if you're skinny it doesnt mean you are healthy.
2) I need to play with my spring packs more.
3) Pirate 4x4 PWNS stock saginaw manuals.
4) I may need a near CV shaft front driveline.
5) My 5:13s/38s are going to be perfect! :smokin:
6) I have to get the D60 rear built this weekend with a driveshaft for more testing.
binderbound 03-24-2008, 07:26 AM Picked up customer TJ friday. A big expencive box from advance adapter showed up Saturday. Picked up my new bike from the shop after the tune up. Runs like a raped ape now. Moved the majority of my junk from my old house to the GF's house. Easter dinner. Start day shift today, hence the 6AM post time, god damn it.
scout254 03-24-2008, 08:51 AM Went wheeling, rode shotgun for a while... then got to drive:flipoff2:

Binder 03-24-2008, 09:27 AM I wheeled......
Skipped work Friday to wheel a brand new very difficult trail. I'm the first to complete it with 3 friends right behind me.
Sat Ben W came over so I showed him some of the local wheeling.

Where did you take Big Ben...? Around Reiter? Is he planning on making a trip over here?

Took Ben to Reiter. Did BYS and screwed around for a bit then worked on a broken cherokee before towing it back to the parking lot.
tsm1mt 03-24-2008, 11:21 AM Washed up the racer on Saturday, and found one more boo-boo I hadn't noticed.

The shock hoop is a Curt Cleavenger design from years back.. there's a piece of 4"x1/4" plate between two uprights, which I eventually extended up for the 7100s.
A few years back, I added an over-engine-bar to keep from tearing the frame up again.. and guess what I forgot to re-install when I put the engine back in a week or two ago?
The 4x1/4 twisted. I'm hoping to just bend the shock mounts back vertical and install the engine bar and call it good.
Before washing the Scout, I went to the range Saturday morning to give my new pistol a shot (or 150). Ugh. Sure is a good thing it holds 15+1 when it seems like I'm only able to place 1/2 of them on the paper target at 25 yards.
After I ran out of .40S&W, I put a box through the '06 and felt pretty good with the results (MUCH better than the pistol! DUH).
On the way back from the range, met Michelle n' Joleigh at the park in town to play for a bit before an Easter Egg hunt. Felt a little odd, pulling up to the park, filled with kiddies, with a rifle n' pistol on the seat in plain view.
Looked at pink single-shot youth .22s, too. My 20 month old is a bit too small still, but niece turns 9 next month. I can afford to shoot all the .22 I want.. vs. the ~$70 in ammo I burned up.
Colorado Dave 03-24-2008, 01:19 PM I went to the ER friday. Saturday I took my son to DIA to go visit his mom in Washington for spring break. I'm still waiting for my fafsa paperwork to come through. I hope to start my welding degree next month. I got a box of brackets from Ballistic fab. I am not too impressed with the quality. :shaking:. I talked to Jim and the caddy adapter is almost done. I should be picking it up next weekend. I also have a JD2 and 1 3/4 die on its way.....:smokin:
Harvester of Sorrow 03-24-2008, 04:41 PM Thursday and Friday am...argued via email with the ex about taxes...
Friday evening...picked up my boys
Saturday...packed...packed some more...wrecked on my kids scooter doing nothing fancy. Gouged the shit out of my hands after going ass-over-tea kettle.
Sunday...packed...easter "linner" (lunch/dinner) with GF, my boys, and GF's mother.
Sunday pm....took boys back to 1/2 way meeting ground...DMZ.
tonight...painting...
Snoopy 03-24-2008, 07:04 PM Worked in the garage. Bumpers and Racer stuff. Waiting for some parts to come in for the engine in the racer so I put on the front clip and started designing the engine cage and front tube work.
Sunday went to grandmas and had a good time/din with the extended family.
Decided I needed mount a CB antenna, I bought a cheap $26 kit from the truck stop, figure its better than nothing. Well one thing lead to another and I took the top off to make it easier to drill a hole:shaking: Then all the rust was looking bad, so I decide I would give it a touch up. but the rust was under one side window, so out came the side windows. Plus the back hatch too. OK now it's a bare shell:eek: wet sanded and welded up the rust holes and painted it with some epoxy primer and then a top coat. So it looks way better, complete with bugs dried into the paint. My dad asked and I said no problem I could just find a low hanging branch to scrape em off:laughing:
Did a little wheeling at the local park too.

Me, I spent time re-inforcing my stock drag link. Some scrap angle, and some welding, and it's MUCH stronger now. Won't turn to the boomerang i've had before.
