We just swapped one of the 22ret engines into my friends 85 efi runner. The worst part was getting the new guage cluster, engine wiring harness and turbo computer to work with the rest of the electronics in the truck. While we were researching this I seem to recall reading that the turbo and non turbo trucks use a different head as well. Depending on location and licencing smog may be a pita.

I can say it should "Bolt" right in. but the computer system needs to be addressed, the stock Compression ratio of your current engine, which you may have to change out the waste gate for lower pressure to work with your current engine.

Im going to say your ECU is probably OBD1 since it is an american model and that is what is mandatory to US specs.

You will have to swap out your MAP for a 2 BAR unit. Bigger injectors will be needed. Need to drop the oil pan and tap it for a drain line from the turbo. So many details. Expect to drop another 500-600 on top of the purchase to get it to work right.

Any questions, check my thread build. Its alot of fun, but its not easy. But that system, you start with alot more then what I started with. good luck!

not worth it, rather spend time and $$ for other stuff
