The seat covers are the best part, they make me go fast:p

With those High horsepower seatcovers we need to paint your front brake calipers yellow to stock that speeding hunk of steel.

I can probably gather enough cardboard to make a huge wing to make it look cool and provide down draft to keep that beast on the ground.

Joe...I hate to point this out, but the picture you posted on my thread as to "whatcha got, buddy?" looks the same as your "remember when" picture. ? Doesn't look like it has changed too much since you got it on Jan 2001. I can see why you haven't spent much money with D&C...you haven't done anything yet.

Why don't you give it a rest and keep it to one thread. Some of us are here to learn and give advice when we can. The whineing and sniveling gets old in a hurry so if you can't post tech and at least try to get along, shut the fuck up and be quite. You may get burned for a dumbass question but don't waste my time or everyone else with attitude.

Check this out.

Most of the guys here spend our money buying TOOLS so we can BUILD IT OURSELVES instead of paying someone else to do it, or buying bolt on :rainbow: stuff.

Why would i pay a shop to work on my truck? Aside from Midas and ONE shop in Colorado that I trust to do some very specific things, no one but ME touches my rigs.

I find that things get F-ed up less often that way, and when they do, I'm the only guy to blame..

Besides.. if you can't build it, you have no business driving it. :flipoff2:

That must be a common problemwith the three speeds, because mine does the same thing in second. They muust have weak shift forks or something along those lines.

off of second mouses webpage:

"I will be taking it down to 4 wheel Parts wholesaler and let them do the Full Detroit Lockers- front and rear. So sit back and enjoy the progress, hopefully I can pull this off, since I'm not really known for actually working on my own vehicles."

most people here like to BUILD there stuff. I don't care if you have a webpage to prove it. Its proof enough to me when i get to drive my scout, so i really don't care and know that other people don't care if you THINK they haven't done stuff to their scout. I am proud of my scout and the way I,me, no one else set up my scout. And as far as going to post on other topics and whine that is :rainbow: I have asked some simple questions and been ragged on, rather get ragged on then take it to someone for them to do it. All i know is i built my scout in my driveway in my last year of HS and part of the summer, and your just now doing something like that, but for the most part someone else has done the work for you. Well i can tell ya that my driveway built scout will wheel better thay yours and thats b/c i drive it like I BUILT IT!!

I have tolerance for morons (like me) that ask DUMB q's (like me) b/c i want to build it and not have someone else do it. I had a question about hubs, i couldn't see this snap ring b/c of the grease on the stub axle and man did i get some funn response like saw the knuckles off. Hey it was a dumb question, but tsm1mt took the time and PM'd me some directions, even though i was just blind and could see the d-mn snap ring. But I don't have tolerance and know that most on here don't have tolerance for people that come in here and want to know why no one from this board likes to spend high cash for brand name stuff, coming from someone who hasn't built their scout,BUT wants proof from other people on how their scout has changed, or maybe it isn't changed b/c they haven't forked out a kidney for a brand name bolt on accessorie like you. just think thats gay. more respect in hand built rigs.

oh and in the quote i put up there, don't you mean you hope SOMEONE else or some shop can pull this off.

and $wheel part wholesalers is gay too.

I have a later (79) T15 3spd that does the same.

Hold it in R or 2nd or it'll pop out - unless you're on the throttle.

Made turning around in tight parking lots a b*tch with the manual steering, manual 4wheel drums, and 31x10.50s when you can't just leave it in R and work the clutch to creep back.. hard to turn the wheel with one hand while the other holds the shifter. :D

no one will work on my rig but myself and my henchmen.

spent all day today filling in the openings in my new half doors, banging the biggest f-ing dents out of the doors i got from scout madness which were supposed to be "immaculate" ,liars. now im figuring out the linkage for the inside door handles.

thanks for posting the pic joe...

hey pat...we got the same name, anyway could you post a pic of those half doors, i need some inserts or half doors. It sucks in the rain when the only side that gets what is your left. Need to keep the shorts dry. Are you making tube doors?? Or just cutting old stock doors, i have old doors and shoud maybe make some out of that. Oh and if anyone wan'ts to sell some old SSII inserts, i would like some. No one wants to sell me their old inserts on the BB, b/c they don't want to ship.

OH WELL

Pjs
07-13-2002, 09:29 PM
for the doors,
i started with the most dented and rust free set i could find, (my origionals look like they were never put on a truck, so im gonna sell them to a BB guy for his parkinglot penis exension in order to fund my new suspension) i cut the cross brace out , drew up a few lines and basically coppied the ones that someone on the pirate tech section did for his yota. after cutting the doors, they were realllllly flimsy, so i fitted them with a 1" box tube frame. then filled in the openings with 14 gague( i think) galv. sheetmetal. i just put the guts in them and i'm working on the inside handles before i completely finish them off,
as far as "windows" and "window frames" goes, i'm going to tackle that soon. i have some 1/2" .095 chromoly tubing lying around. thinking of mocking up a frame with that and having the upholstery shop to the material part. with the tube frame, it would be sturdy enough to "plug" the window frame into the doors, similar to the YJ half door style.
i have a few pics on my other computer...i can't post on here, email me, and i'll remember to send em to ya.

joe,
that would be me. half doors square tubing.
i can sleep at night. haha.
the guy i bought it from was a total alcoholic. i drove from pa to maine in one shot and got to his house at 11 am. he was already wasted. i wasn't complaining about the price though. he said he only wanted 500 for it cause he got trashed and decided to see how long he could drive it up hill with no oil in the engine at all. he wasted the no. 7 main and seized it up real nice.

his loss- my gain.

I think i would want to go down a little further on my cut, just for my personal preference, I have a set of doors in good cond. , but i haven't really taken a good look at them. Any things that would get in the way with this design?? I don't think there would. Email me on how you are making the latches for the door to shut. This is my only option as door inserts are $$$ and i love not having doors, but hate getting wet when commuting.

i see what your going for pat,
kinda like the ones the camo blazer is wearing on the cover of this months 4 wheel.... basically i left the rearward edge full height because of the lock button, outside handle( which i have since decided to void), and it really doesn't hinder vision since it covers the drivers seat . l'll send another pic in which you can see what im talking about. post it if you like. after thinking about it, i really could have cut down the foreward side. hmmm, i might even end up doing that. also, if it is cut down further, i wouldnt gain that much, because the top of the door sits level with my seat. also can be seen in picture. i'll also send a mock up of my latch linkage.
