: JD2 Hydraulic Bender complete......pics
ROKTOY 10-06-2001, 03:02 PM Finally got it done and it seems to work fine. Takes about 25 seconds
to go the full stroke and can bend a bit over 100 deg in a single shot.

71RCKCRZR RYAN 10-06-2001, 03:43 PM THATS FUWKIN BAD ASS...................
HOW MUCH DID IT COST YOU FOR ALL THE HYDRO STUFF?
convertiyota 10-06-2001, 04:06 PM What are you going to bend up first?!?! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/jeep1.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/jeep1.gif" border="0">
Honkylips 10-06-2001, 04:58 PM I'd also be curious what the whole set-up cost with the dies and hydraulic stuff if ya don't mind sharing.
incontrol 10-06-2001, 05:55 PM Jay,
Tell us more about the it.
Cylinder size and length?
Pump and motor size?
Did it come out of the Northern catalog?

Bgcj5 10-06-2001, 06:23 PM Very Nice bender share some stats. I'll be interested in hearing what u did
ROKTOY 10-07-2001, 09:46 PM Jd2 with deg ring and 1", 1.5" and 1.75" dies plus notcher came to about a grand to my door. I spent about $750 plus steel to build the rest of it.
I bought the pump, cylinder and control valve from Northern. Pump unit is Haldex Barnes 1hp factory set at 2000 psi. Cylinder is a 3" x 24" stroke. Stroke travel is roughly an inch a second and ram force should be about 14k lbs. at full pressure. Hoses are 1/2".
Bend first? Scrap tube for practice <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
Jay
Jay, a write-up on your web page for that would be greatly appreciated <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
I am working on building my own version of the "One Shot" bender in a hydro activated version, looks easier to build and all I gotta buy are the dies <IMG SRC="smilies/glasses.gif" border="0">
Nanuk 10-08-2001, 04:21 AM I gotta (for once, and never again) agree with DRM, write up, please. <IMG SRC="smilies/bounce2.gif" border="0">
Very sweet lookin bender.
Got me droolin. <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">
ROKTOY 10-09-2001, 08:51 PM Thanks....I'll give it a shot when I get some time.

66CJdean 10-09-2001, 09:09 PM Any reason you went with the 3" and not the 2" ram? I know the 2" will bend faster so do you think the 3" works better because it is slower and therefor give you some time to be more accurate. Any way great job.
66CJdean 10-12-2001, 01:06 PM Some other questions. What Hp motor does the pump have and what GPM is it?
ColdNorth 10-12-2001, 04:56 PM Ok, question, and maybe a dumb one. http://www.pirate4x4.com/ubb/uploads/Geek.jpg
...Do you just eyeball it for angle of bend? How are you going to know when you've hit 90-degrees, or whatever you want? Or is there an indicator somewhere on it?
66CJdean 10-12-2001, 05:03 PM Lots of us bend a piece of heavy wire to the angle we want and then just bend until we match that angle. In picture 4 it showes the degres ring at the bottom of the bender, it is the 1/2 circle shark fin thing. It has all the degres marks on it.
When do you want me to drop off my truck for an exo <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
66CJdean 10-12-2001, 07:42 PM When will you have the $$$ <IMG SRC="smilies/thefinger.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
