These may be stupid questions but I'm Ford clueless. I've acquired a 75 F-250. So far as I can tell it's got a 390 ,4spd., divorced t-case[shifter shows 2hi,4hi,4lo], Dana 60 rear, Dana 44 closed knuckle front. Body is rough but truck is complete and runs, rear main seal leaks quite abit. So my question is: What trans and t-case are likely to be in it??? Are there any parts worth selling??? What's this stuff worth, complete or parts??
Thanks for the help.
PS if anybody wants it let me know harleyandjet@aol.com

Jet,
The tranny is most likely an NP 435. If not the 435 then it will be a T-18 BW. The t/case should be a divorced NP 205. The parts are worth whatever you can get for them! :flipoff2:
  thanks. Can anyone tell me how to identify an NP from a T-18??

can you drive it over 5mph in 1st gear? if not NP435 if so T18 more than likely on a 250 you have the 435 and 205. Good stuff and some advice on the 390 don't waste your time rebuilding it dump it and get a 460. I spent alot of time and money on mine, and I don't think I've gotten out of it what I've put into it not to mention I still have an oil leak on it . But one day I will swap in a powerstroke :D:D:flipoff2: :D:D

IIRC the shifter retainer cap on the 435 is bayonet style and the one on the T-18 screws on? Somebody help my old mind here! :D

T-18's have a Cast iron top plate while 435's have an aluminum plate.
Stock WILL be a 360. Not a 390. 1975 was a transition year. you'll have to pull the rear axles to see if they are 16 or 30 spline. If the D-44 is a large external hub then it is 3500# HD D-44. bigger u-joints.

  Thanks for the info. I'll check the motor. As far as rebuilding it. Not happening. To me this truck is a driveable parts truck. Unfortunately for me I don't need it cause most of my 14 vehicles are Chevy, Jeep, and Toyota and other stuff. Anyone need some stuff??.
Any advantage to the closed knuckle other than keeping out debris?
THanks for the info
