Just did the disk install on the 14 bolt using GM 3/4 ton rotors and GM 1/2 ton calipers. Everything bolted/welded together and the disk pads drag on the rotors. I can turn the wheel by hand but it is pretty tight. Is this normal? What did I do wrong?

OK THE DRUM BRAKES HAVE A 10 PSI CHECK VALVE IN THE MASTER CYL. THE DISC'S OLNY USE 2 PSI WILWOOD SELL'S THE CHACK VALVES AND PROPORTIONING VALVE YOU WILL ALSO NEED:p

Yes there will be a check valve on the drum brakes some were in the system usually in the master just remove it you don't need a check valve with your disc brakes unless your running them in a roadster were your master is below the level of you calipers

I just swapped in the 14 bolt all at once so I dont even have the brake lines or hoses on yet. When sliding the calipers and pads over the rotors it was a tight fit just to get them on. I can turn the rotor by hand but it isnt free by any means. Is this normal and everything just needs to be worn in?

I have the same problem I fawked up when I welded my drivers side brakets on the 14bolt. I just ground the back of the pad down(very little) so i can fit it in and I guess as the pad wears it'll loosen up.
We'll have to see as my project is in the same place as yours.

I will have to check if both sides are dragging or just one. For sure the inside pad on both rotors are dragging. I planned on energizing them with compressed air and then weld on the brackets but the pads were already pretty tight to the rotor. Any ideas?

What did you use to gring the pads down?

A grinder, This was just the one inside one though. I just ground the high spots down a little.(the rivots)
