Okay, on advice i received from my Father, he said the shift fork pads in my D300 T-case were worn out. He was correct. I replaced them, but the problem didn't go away. I just had a tranny shop tear down my D300 and they said nothing else was wrong.
So, how do i test the rear end for Wheel bearings and/or rear gears for damage?
1980 Jeep CJ-7 Auto. Stock AMC 20 rear axle.
When i drive, under light acceleration, it's fine. However, under moderate acceleration or when starting off from a dead stop, "KA-CHUNK, KA-CHUNK" and the whole thing shakes and GRINDS and slips in&out of gear when trying to go forwards/backwards.
This occurs regardless of T-case position.
I think I'm left with just opening the rear inspection/assembley plate and taking the rear axles apart, but if there are any other tests i can perform before opening this stuff up, I would appreciate your help.
