: Dually F350 lift options, and any pics
geberhard 03-26-2008, 02:19 PM So I am a proud owner of a new (to me) 01 350, crew cab, long bed, dually. The rig runs great, but without any load, the back is pretty stiff. I was debating replacing the rear springs for something a bit softer as I do not plan to tow a house behind the rig, but a trailer with a rig occasionally. Any recomendations?
Another thing I am thinking about, since I am thinking of replacing the springs, thsi could be a good time to add a slight lift to the rig at the same time. Abyone has infor and recomendations on lifts (plan is to stay up to a 6" lift max).
Any pics of duallies lifted? I have been looking on PSD Dieselstop, etc, but not many duallies lifted, and hardly any pics.
Thanks!
03f350 03-26-2008, 02:54 PM I would have to say that donahoe racing or rubicon express probly have the softest springs. everyone else's are about the same as stock. one of my buddies has skyjacker, another has pro comp, and the other has DR, I used fabtech. DR I would say has the best ride.
I would recommend air bags too. my fabtech's rode like shit but sagged a lot with about 1500 LBS in the bed or towing the horse around.
WHITE RHINO 03-26-2008, 03:04 PM keep it stock and deal with it!!!!!!!!
FF3PM 03-26-2008, 03:12 PM Alright geberhard I have seen you ride some newbie guys real hard, so you better get your flame suit on. :flipoff2:
Let me get this straight, you go out and buy a Dually CC and are now complaining on how harsh the ride is. :shaking:Did you not test drive this truck? You want to take some of the leafs out thus reducing the weight carrying capacity, so why did you buy a DRW anyway because now with the reduced weight capacity you have no real need for DRW only SRW. By the description of your intended towing use you can't justify needing a DRW either. You want to lift it up to 6", and can't seem to find DRW CC trucks that are lifted that much, ya think this may be telling you something. These are made to tow heavy, no bs little bumper pull trailers I mean GN or 5ers and they don't work too well on a lifted truck. Yeah you can find the truck posers that lift them but really they are fooling themselves by trying to compensate for something they are lacking. Now if you want a big show truck, thats a different deal but I don't think thats what your intentions are.:D
BTW congrats on the new tow rig.
FF3PM 03-26-2008, 04:16 PM I know these guys have or had DRW trucks. My DRW is a Dodge so that won't help you.Try looking in Powerstrokenation.com for;

alienjeep 03-26-2008, 04:23 PM whatever, i don't really have the need for a DRW either and i bought it anyways, i like em and that's all i care, plus it'll hold value a little better than most. you don't really have to have many things you just like em and you get em.
i would like to lift mine 4" but ain't cause i ain't got the $$, so for now a leveling kit would do.

bigreen 03-26-2008, 06:32 PM The pimp setup would be a Full-traction coilover conversion up front...Icon 5" springs in the rear.
Next ideal setup would be the full Icon 6" system, with 5" rear springs. This will level the truck out...if you dont like that, throw the block of your choice in with the springs. Add load assist airbags for when you want to tow, and you are good to go. You just cant have great payload, and great ride at the same time with leafsprings. Those Icons are SOFT, but they squat very bad under load.
PM me if you need pricing...got the price sheets right in front of me.

Random 6" setup on a Dually...and i guess santa clause

That guy with the Dodge, IIRC made them on his lathe.

I know they sell em for big rigs though. I've seen em in the 33mm flavor.

geberhard 03-27-2008, 05:17 PM heheh lol :0 my flame suit is stuffed with marshmallow :)
Cool info guys. I am on debate mode, I think one of the reasosn for teh dually is that like Sir Mixalot, " I like big butts adn I can'd deny" :D

Well he plan is to add more toys later on, and possibly in the near future will be building another rig for the wife so the dually will be pnetly to tow a couple rigs :D Plus cab-over, and more junk as needed :D
I was thinking about a bit of lift since I am considering getting a softer rear.... well could possibly use something like this to soften the rear...

on a more serious note, if I am going through the trouble to change leafs, etc etc, thsi could be a good time to improve the ride. have not thought about the airbags though, woudl they improve the ride quality or make it harder?

You deflate the bags when you are just driving about (riding on just the springs), then when your ready to tow some serious shit fill them up and get your payload back.

x12. most guys do it anyway with all the leafs, why not make it ride like a caddy when your not towing? :smokin:
deadmoney1 03-28-2008, 10:36 PM You'll ruin it.This truck is built to HAUL shit!Lift it,and you'll look like the rest of the fags pullin a little u-haul trailer, and the back end is sittin 6" lower than the front!
Mine rides just fine with around 25,000lbs on the back. It's like a big truck w/o the trailer...it rides like shit!

This seems to be a common thought around here, Why is it everyone bitches about lifted tow rigs?
I used a superlift system on my truck, the ride is still pretty firm, but the rear does not sag much either,

i want to punch people in the face, when their spelling licks ball sack :flipoff2:
89breaker 03-31-2008, 08:18 AM Gerber, I just added bags to my F250 (SRW) and they are transparent when inflated. If you are going to add bags, I would still only remove the overload springs.
Get the OBA kit for your bags as it makes things A LOT easier to deal with.
