Gotta a Ford NP435 Question........I have a CJ7 that has a 435 mated to a Dana 20 t-case. I believe the 435 is out of an interantional. Anyway the tranny is shot and I found one out of a '79 f-150 that was just rebuilt. I basically need to know if the tranny is the same as the International or did they have differences? :D Thanx in advance for the help!

They are not a direct interchange but a lot of the gears/synchros,and brgs are interchangable. Check the casting #'s on the side of the case. Ths IHC should be like C-95992 and the Ford should be C-13894 or C-96391. Short answer is the Cases/inout shafts and retainers and the mainshafts will be different.

I think you can swap the internals. I know I did between a 68 NP435 and a 79 NP435. but all I needed was the reverse gear...

www.novak-adapt.com

There knowledge section has a lot of information on the NP 435.

I have rebuilt two NP 435's both of which were from Ford trucks. The rebuild is simple and Novak sells a rebuild kit that includes instructions. As for internal differences, there is little info on the I.H. version. I would call Novak and ask. I have spoke with them several times and have always found them eager to help.
