I am tired of the BS I have been dealing with with the front end on my mj.

I want to get rid of these problems and increase the resale value so I am looking to swap the front to leafs and the rear back to SOA using different axles. I know a guy just north of town who has a stockpile of m-715 axles that I can pick up sets for dirt cheap.

swap new seals and bearings and brake parts and I have a good (relatively) 60 front and 70 rear. for simplicity I want to swap to leafs up front.

I am looking for pictures of those who have done it. I want to see the crossmembers and mounts and get ideas for what will work and what won't.

should I go with XJ rear leafs or SJ fronts?

just looking for ideas here....

oh, how much am I looking to spend to adapt a 205 to an ax-15?

ps THIS IS NOT ANOTHER LEAFS VS COILS THREAD!!! THIS IS ABOUT THE MOUNTING POINTS FOR FRONT LEAFS ON XJ/MJ AND PICS!!!!!

well, i am currently in the middle of this process so i might be able to help out a little bit. first of all, go to bill ansell's web page which can be reached through www.rightcoastcrawlers.com. that is where i got a lot of my info, great web page, and has a detailed write up on this conversion. i will try and draw up some pictures for you if you want. i could probably fax them to you if you have a fax machine handy. i got one at work and could get some crude (my drawing skills aren't exactly up to par) drawings of what i have planned.

thanks..that writeup is very good.....gave me several ideas on what to do.

I am debating if I want to use lca mount or if I want to outboard....not sure on that yet. the other thing is, which springs do I use? The YJ doesn't quite have enough offset from what it looks like. my other options are SJ, XJ rear, or toyota pickup fronts. MJ rears are WAY too long to throw up front....

the other question is (I'll probably just have to play around with it...) can I bolt up to gain 6-8 inches or am I going to have to add a lifted pack or aal?

thanks again for the link to bellavistas writeup...any more?

How do you figure to "increase" retail value with this?? When suspension mods that are as custom as this most people won't touch with a ten foot pole. Just curious.

Well, i'm gonna try and use the YJ springs cause i'm getting some for free from a friend. and i'm just gonna sort of mix and match some springs from the rear in with the front pack and see what happens. although another guy that i know used a 4.5 rear xj pack and he got about 10" or so i think (he's running 38's). so i can't really say which will work best. i'm just gonna use the lca mount for the rear spring mount and weld some extra bracing onto it to make it a little bit stronger.

I am going to be doing a axle swap here in the next month or so. I have been throwing around the idea of going full width and leafs up front. Anyone know where I can find some info on this? Maybe some pics, build ups or something.
