I swear by the SX's, have been running the 38x12.5x15 for 6 years, never had a problem & love the side wall. I like to run with 4psi to gain maximum traction but not sure if the IROK could withstand the amount of sidewall rubber that is currently missing from my SX's (you loyal SXers know what I mean when you look at your tire and see that there are craters of missing rubber that have been cut by sharp rocks)
I would like a larger wheel but don't want a 42" SX, my ideal tire size is 39" & lower.
The 2 tires I am considering are the 39" Irok & the almighty 38"SX. How would you compare the sidewalls and the overall reliability?

I have no expereice with the SX but you might want to move this to general 4x4 for a better response. Not the Jeep hardcore tech:grinpimp:

I ran the 38.5" SX, and then the 39" Irok. Coming from the SX you will not be impressed with the Irok. The sidewalls are not nearly as strong and you'll shred the fronts at 4 PSI. I started running mine at 8-9 so they can last me until I have enough money saved up for a set of anything else. I wheel at least once a month on pretty much the same terrain as you probably do and all my friends who run the 39" Iroks have the same experiences as me.

Hold out for the 39" SX2.

Interco's coming out with a 40" Ltb this next month, I've abused the hell out of a smaller set of Ltb's with no trouble no matter how dumb I get.

Why will I hate the irok if I go to them from the SX, is it just the fact that I have NEVER had to worry about my sidewall before and now there will be concern or is it that it gives different traction. I mainly wheel anywhere east of the Mississippi, but am now starting to venture out west once a year.

The things you like about the SX are not the strength of the IROK and hence the comment that you won't be satisfied if you compare on your experience.

The irok's tread wears very quickly especially the outer lugs.
