View Full Version : Locker and/or Limted Slips for a Tow Rig
Contemplating adding something to my 01 GMC 3500. Thinking ARB in front, but debating ARB vs LS in rear.
My thinking on the LS in the rear is from a vehcile I had with Aubrun LS in rear and ARB in front. That thing hooked up on snowy streets in 2wd. Then swapped out to ARB in rear and interesting things would happen on snowy streets. It was better with the rear open and front locked but still did not work as well as the Auburn LS.
So what do you guys have and what are you thoughts?

why not posi-traction?
I can't answer the question, but I thought I'd throw that in to the mix.
Hey :rainbow: man Im guessing you still think posi traction and Limited slip are two different things right? WRONG! a damned Posi-traction is the same damned thing as a Limited Slip!
any way put the ARB in the rear and a gear driven limited slip up front.

Are you sure you don't have a Gov- loc already? Most late model 3500 I've seen have a gov- loc in the rear, factory.
I have been more than happy with the factory L/S's that came in the last two F250's I have owned... Just enough of a benefit when needed...

My '02 2500HD has an open rearend. I think that's part of the reason I was able to deal on it as well as I was. They couldn't move it. Save an extra $1,000 'cause no L/S & I can have an Detroit installed for $385 :D

I RUN A DETROIT IN THE REAR AND AUBURN IN THE FRONT OF MY WIFES SUBURBAN, WHICH DOES SEE TOWING DUTY, AND WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT MAYBE A DETROIT IN THE FRONT, NOT A BIG FAN OF ARB'S.

No, it's $285, but I was able to negotiate a better price 'cause they were having trouble selling a truck with an open rear ;)
