OK so I'm a cheap bastard, I got some fairly worn out Dunlop Mub Rovers for REAL cheap, and I was wondering if it is worth it to groove them a bit to increase the amount of "gription", or should I just use my spare time and mow lawns 'til I can afford some tires with tread. I'm in WA, so it rocks and tree roots for me.
I'm getting laid off in two weeks, and I have access to a groover, so I figured WTf? These tires have about 3/8 or less tread left...

They'll really work well if you groove the whole way into the steel belts
Save your money and buy some new tires :flipoff2:

I would open them up, run 'em, and still mow lawns for better tires. If you can do it for free, there's no reason not to. Although it's recomended that you don't groove them any deeper than the factory tread so just make some big gouges in it for traction.
Whatever :nuke:

on those type tires, as with BFG,goodyear, general, ect ect there is maybe 1/8" of rubber till you hit cords, thats not enough to even bother is it??

Go up to that used tire store up on Hwy 99 just past the Mukilteo Speedway and buy a cheap set of tires. I think the name of the place is ABC Tire? No financial intersts in them btw.
Don't bother grooving them because they'll leave you stuck in the woods or blow out on the highway on you. Dunno which is worse.
Have fun.

WE'VE HAD PRETTY GOOD SUCCESS WITH TAKING A GROOVING IRON TO THE TREAD BLOCKS AND RESHAPING THEM INTO A MORE AGRESSIVE TREAD. ME AND MY BUDDIES WHEEL A LOT AND MANAGE TO WEAR OUT SWAMPERS IN A YEAR OR LESS, WITHOUT STREET DRIVING TRAIL ONLY, AND AS THEY GET WORN WE START GROOVING LUGS FOR NEW EDGES, IT HELPS A LOT SOME OF US ARE GETTING BRAVER AND CUTTING BRAND NEW TIRES. SO DON'T BE AFRAID TO CHANGE THE TREAD PATERN DUNLOP ROVERS DON'T WORK THAT WELL NEW SO I THINK ALL YOU CAN DO IS IMPROVE ON THEM:rasta:

I agree that you may as well groove em. They won't last long but it's good practice. Don't groove like yeller blazer ME AND MY BUDDIES WHEEL A LOT AND MANAGE TO WEAR OUT SWAMPERS IN A YEAR OR LESS, WITHOUT STREET DRIVING TRAIL ONLY, AND AS THEY GET WORN WE START GROOVING LUGS FOR NEW EDGES,
