Well we couldn't pull off the threepeat. :(

BUT, we did end up in 2nd place overall. It was definitely Ken Shupe and Moose's weekend though. They walked away with the well deserved victory. Congrats, Ken and Moose!

Third place is still up in the air. We haven't attended the awards ceremony yet. I believe that third will most likely go to team Currie. I will let you know what's up later tonight, and I have some more pictures to upload. :cool2:

we did end up in 2nd place overall

Thats still a pretty damn solid record...plenty of people wish they had 1st, 1st, 2nd for 3 outings. Nice work.

How high do you need to finish in the last event to wrap up the season points title?

2nd still kicks ass after yesterdays trials. :D

Is the series purse next season really that ungodly figure I've been hearing

It is almost to the point where a team can make this a 'full-time' job. The RCAA purse is almost $300k this year? With the RCAA, Cal-Rocks, and the east unifying can this become a possible career choice.

Once there is a year round schedule, maybe outdoors in the summer, arena in the winter you may start to see dedicated teams.

Should I sell the house, and start a team :p

How far down in the digs do the prizes go? FUK me if I run 10th concistantly can i pull 5k? Thats my truck :) what about the other rock crawling companies? UROK CALROCKS or whoever.... How do they rank purse wise? I am hesitant to play that severly but hell greed will help my fear :)

Only morons get into motorsports for the money. Sure the prize money is nice, but you could do much better if you put that time and effort into making something like glitter. You compete serriously in any motorsport because you love it, and it generally costs every penny you have, until you are at the very top of the sport. If you want to do it, then do it, but don't do it for the $.3M because chances are you will loose your ass.

that's exactly what i was thinking. It's funny how people figure how much they are going to win, but what they should be figuring is how much it's going to cost them.

oh TRUST me........ Cost is one of the main reasons I am NOT in the game yet. I have a fairly capable rig. Need more time behind the wheel. But the idea of being able to see a light at the end of the tunnel is a sign that there is hope for this hobby that JUST RECENTLY became a "sport"

Wow I didnt realize they were paying money to the winners.
I guess Ill just start winning now, and take my share home with me.....Oh wait a minute, I forgot all about the 100 other drivers/teams with more skill and better rigs than mine.
Maybe if I let them know that I would like to have the money, they will rollover and just let me have some. :flipoff2:

There is a giant leap, going from capable rig and big balls driving style, to the winners podium.
Oh yeah, one more thing,...$5k will probably not cover the cost of your new competition rig.
I know you are kinda kidding but it is pretty fawkin arrogant, to think that all you need to do is sign up and a share of the money is as good as yours.

No matter how good the prize money sounds, I've rarely seen the circumstance where it even comes close to covering the costs involved. You do it for the sport.

You mean I'm not going to be making milli'ns :D

Exactly. Reality check people YOU Sitting behind the computer screen YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE MONEY!!!

Prize money is there to help the serious people help defray costs.

god damn this is GREAT!! I love jumping back onto this board and fawking with the people who know this fawked up name. I love to stir the waters.:jester: I was really actually surprised that the purce (i am assuming for the whole year) would be even CLOSE to that large. The way I was still looking at it was that the sport of "rock racing" was so new that it truely was still for the sport. Glad to hear the sponcers are really steppin up.
As far as I go :girly: :girly: I am to chicken shit to try and drag my shit across the west to break it.
Either that or my tow rig aint built all the way :)
Props lance. Someday I may make it to one of the "races" and try and shmooze with a star like yourself and S&N fab crew :)

Steve, I agree with what you are saying. As in any motor sport the money is not in the winnings, it's in the sponsors. You want to make money at any motor sports then you need to be a marketing and media company first, race team second. I would bet that team Shaffer is in the red from the competitions, may break even if they win the championship. Do I think I could make a living competing, not now maybe in a few years, but I would run it like a business. Unification will allow a big step forward in the national spot light and will hopefully attract media/sponsor attention. For the sport to really grow it will need to be accessible to the masses, which means either arena events, or dedicated facilities.

If I wanted to do this full time I'd take a course in Marketing, develop a program (team concepts, rig, development program), produce financial reports, signup sponsors, then build a rig and find a driver.
