i had one as a spare when i ran 35s but never used it. the lugs were really deep, but the tire is really skinny

yea flotation is out the window with these tires.. they are all side lugs since they are so skinny, but they do hook up like mad in the mud.... theres a set that came on my shop truck (75 k-20).. ive seen them on toys and what nots and they work pretty good for a light truck with a little engine...

they remind me of..... one of them little donut spares on a geo metro type car.... <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

work great on toyotas and flatty's in the mud. Kinda suck on full sizes. I see allot of guys run em on deuly settups. Ever seen a 2wd 1 ton chevy plow (literally) through 3 ft. of mud?? It's pretty messy.

I am putting a set on my 2A the only bad thing about them is that they are bias ply so they flat spot when the sit overnight.

Best mud tire you can buy - bar none - in the 33" range, for deep or shallow slop. I'm running the Q78's 'cause I didn't want to regear after ditching my 38X12.50's. But, if I wanted to step down a size, 34's would be my only consideration.

Q78 is advertised as 35.5X11, mine have a true diameter of 35" exactly (making them about 1.5" taller than 34's). Best way to describe how they look is to park a Q78 in between a 34X9.50 & a 38X12.50. The Q's basically split the difference between the 34's & 38's both in diameter & in width. Like the 34's, Q78's have 27/32's tread depth. But, they do not have the same unique tread pattern that the 34's have. Instead, the Q's have lugs that look like 35X15.50's lengthwise, but narrower due to the shorter section width. Personally, I think the tread pattern on the 34 is just a HAIR more effective than what's on the Q78. BUT, the extra height of the Q is what I needed since we run pretty deep slop.

You can get specs from
Interco's web site (http://www.intercotire.com/). A Q78 is a 35.5x10.5 tire that Interco makes in a TSL for 15" and 16" wheels. Buckshot makes them too (in radial and bias).

I was in New Hampshire the weekend before last and a bunch of Cruiser guys were using 34x9.5 TSLs. I wasn't that impressed to be honest. They dug real good, but there was nothing to dig down to where we were so they didn't work.

Do you know the true width of the Q78's ? Would they fit on stock rims? Thanks.

I'm going wider next time. I'm currently running 9.5's and if there's a hole in the rocks they find it and fall in. They do kick A$$ in the mud and snow though. <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

I like 'em a lot on my '88 longbed. A nice thing about them is you can fit them on stock Toys without a lift, just some fender cutting.

They need to be on 6 inch wide rims, not 7 like Interco claims. Also bead sealant helps a lot.

They're recommended for 6.5's I believe. Got mine on 7's. On the 7's, I'd have to say they're pretty close to 11" true width, but I haven't actually measured. They MIGHT be a bit narrower. They're clearly skinny compared to ANY 12.50 wide tire out there, but still quite a bit fatter than the 9.50's.
