Wondering what people have shipped through. I am needing to get some 395/85/R20 Michelin XML's from KY to CA. I figure the tires weigh in the neighborhood of 300 pounds a piece right? Any one done this and through who and how much did it cost ya? thanks

Not even close to size, but I shipped 4 33" MTR's from Memphis to CA for about $100 through FedEx. Shipped individually, about 53lbs each.
Good luck$$

I shipped tires to Texas from AZ with this shipping co.
Call for quotes, put on pallets, shrink wrap, and they are on there way.

goto the ups center when its busy and theres a long line and insist that you were there another time and they quoted you less money for shipping. I shipped 4 33s once and somehow got the price from 130 to around 80. It was pretty funny I pretty much said that I was told it would be 70 or 80 bucks and that I had already recieved money for the shipping from an ebay user. Then he did some typing and somehow found a way to ship all 4 of them for 50 dollars less

cut them into chunks smaller than 20 pounds and mail them. it'll cost a stamp per parcel. Then, upon arrival glue em together!

Cheap!

I would try forward air. THese babies are too heavy for Fedex or UPS to be cost affective. If you strapped 2 to a pallet, you would probably be talking less then $300 for both. That's a guess, but they were always very nice when I've talked to them, so call them up.

Hey Eric, did you see my post on SRC in reply to your wanted add?

I shipped 5 16.00R20 Michelins 1100 miles for $190(When I got home I found out that I could have gotten them shipped through my work's account for $60  ).

I stacked all 5 tires on 1 pallet which ended up being 85" tall. I am not sure what they weigh each yet, but I told the shipping company 1100#'s. I can tell you that 395/85R20's weight nowhere near to 300#'s each. My tires are quite a bit heavier than those, and I am pretty sure from handeling them, that they weigh closer to 200#'s.

But Eric, Go check out your thread about tires on SRC.

Hey Station,
Read your post and I'm interested. Let me know what you paid for them and how much it would be to ship so I have some idea of a grand total. I don't care if they are brand new but I would like to get them with 70% or better tread so if you could hook me up I'd appreciate it. Thanks

I pretty much gave those details in my post already.

I dont want to tell you exactly what I gave for them, but I did tell you that they were cheaper than 38" swampers.
It cost me $190. to ship them 1100 miles to me. If you have a business contact who does allot of dealing with freight companys, you can bring the shipping cost down allot.

I found out that through my workplace, I can have just about anything shipped for $60 , because we do so much business with freight companys.

To get the the phone number to the guy with the tires, shoot me a PM.
