Nicole Johnson relayed this info to me:

JT in cooperation with Fat Boy Racing takes 1st place in a 'Winner Take All' format. The event was held at Spring Creek Off-Road. JT was driving the Tube Shark buggy with Matt Thompson spotting. They pulled an all night drive from Colorado just for the event and put on a great show.

Robert Lucero of Militia Motorsports (http://www.militiamotorsports.com/) and Mike Foster competed in Mike Moze's Fat Boy Racing buggy. They took a very close second place and demonstrated amazing speed! Everyone actually thought they won. First, he jammed through all the easier gates as fast as possible, then went back for the hardcore lines. Then JT, who ran after Robert, had something to shoot for. He went after the harder gates first, and cleared enough to squeak by with the win. Both teams put on a great show, which was a good thing because the course was so difficult that only one other competitor finished in the alotted time!

Nicole Johnson flew out from Sin City to drive Robert Lucero's single seater, called Ferret. Unfortuntely, the buggy had some technical difficulties while getting teched, and it would not start! Never one to waste a trip, she went to the projects and cooked warm meals for all the homeless people and knitted blankets while they drank whiskey. Somehow the media got ahold of this story and Nicole was able to thank all of her sponsors.

Pictures will posted as soon.

Way to go JT. You alway put on a show.

Great job by both JT and Robert. You had to be there, though, to truly appreciate the show. The crowd actually thought that Robert won, because he did such an amazing job! He was zooming around so lightning fast between obstacles that the folks were just going nuts! I heard some people comment that Robert's driving was the fastest and best performance they'd ever seen at Spring Creek.

The format of the race was a little different than we'd seen before. Imagine the courses at Grand Nationals, and now imagine having 10 minutes and all that space to yourself. There were cones in varying degrees of difficulty, either 25, 50 or 100 points for crossing the plane. You could go in any direction through the plane of the cones, or even cross the plane and then reverse out of it. But if you touched the cone, then the point for that obstacle didn't count. So the guys had to plan their routes, and they were like going crazy between obstacles, because there were so many choices.

To put JT and Robert's neck-and-neck performance in perspective, the third place guy was like 750 points LESS than 2nd place. They killed them, and
BOTH did an amazing job.

Wait, WTF? There was a comp Saturday? :( We were out there yesterday, and were curious about the new marking, but didn't know we missed it by just a day. :crybaby: Oh well, I had to help work two weddings Saturday anyway. Congrats.
