BIG WIN to Improve E.S.A.!!!
BIG WIN for the GRASSROOTS!!!
SEE ACTION ITEMS AT END !
The Endangered Species Sound Science Act - HR 4840 - was APPROVED by the
House Resources Committee on Wednesday by a vote of 22 to 18!
Property Rights Champions Rep. Richard Pombo and Rep. Greg Walden, along
with committee chairman Rep. Jim Hansen and many others (SEE BELOW) gained
approval for HR 4840.
This bill requires sound, honest scientific data along with public
disclosure in order to propose listing an endangered species. That sounds
like common sense to any reasonable person. But of course, the Endangered
Species Act (ESA) has very little to do with common sense, and a lot to do
with hysteria and emotion.
Proposed improvements to the ESA listing process include:
a preference for field tested and peer reviewed data;
b) including historical context such as population trends, ranges, and
fluctuations;
including data from all sources, not just what the feds choose to accept;
independent scientific review; and
e) public access to the listing process.
This bill helps EVERYONE who has to deal with this unreasonable law.
Private property rights are helped because a species will have to actually
be endangered to be listed, and it will be nearly impossible to use
falsified data, as is done now by government agencies.
ALSO, recreational and commercial access to public lands is helped
tremendously. The extremist enviros will find it much more difficult to
shut down federal lands and keep everyone out if they have to use real,
field tested, peer-reviewed scientific data.

ZEROES:
ZERO NUMBER ONE - WHERE WAS REP. JOEL HEFLEY ???
Liberal Republican Congressman Joel Hefley (R-CO) was nowhere to be seen
during the committee "markup," meaning the votes that were held on the
endangered species bill on Wednesday. He was not present and did not vote.
WHERE was Joel Hefley??? Rumor has it that he was plotting his next move
to
push for his terrible Heritage Areas Zoning bill, HR 2388, which will hand
over local zoning powers to the feds in exchange for some federal grant
money.
So, some congressmen stand up and can be counted on to support common sense
Reform of the Endangered Species Act. But not Joel Hefley. He is too busy
scheming with the enviros and the anti-private property, anti-access to
public lands National Park Service to promote his Heritage Areas zoning
bill. SEE ACTION ITEM BELOW.
ZERO NUMBER TWO - REP. NICK RAHALL - MORE BIG BROTHER !!!
Liberal Democrat Nick Rahall (D-WV) led the charge AGAINST common sense
and FOR defending the failed and broken Endangered Species Act. People
are hurt, livelihoods are ruined, and the ESA doesn't even help the birds
and bugs. But Rahall says NO WAY to improving the ESA - let the feds
continue to ruin people's lives and enhance their own power. Whatever the
question, Nick Rahall's answer is MORE BIG BROTHER, MORE BIG
GOVERNMENT. SEE ACTION ITEM BELOW.
Here are the eighteen ZEROES who voted AGAINST common sense, sound
scientific data and public disclosure for the Endangered Species Act:
ZEROES:
Abercrombie (D-HI)
Acevedo, Anibal (D-PR)
Carson, Brad (D-OK)
DeFazio (D-OR)
Holt, Rush (D-NJ)
Inslee, Jay (D-WA)
Kind, Ron (D-WI)
Kildee, Dale (D-MI)
Markey, Ed (D-MA)
McCollum, Betty (D-MN)
Miller, George (D-CA)
Napolitano, Grace (D-CA)
Pallone, Frank (D-NJ)
Rahall, Nick (D-WV)
Smith, Adam (D-WA)
Solis, Hilda (D-CA)
Udall, Tom (D-NM)
Udall, Mark (D-CO)
ACTION ITEMS:
THANK our friends who support improvements to the Endangered Species Act!
THANK the twenty-two YES votes for common sense. Nothing fancy, just
write "THANK YOU for supporting HR 4840 and adding sound science to the
ESA!"
Then, ASK Congressman Joel Hefley where he was when you needed him.
Below
are the emails of his two top staff henchmen. Ask Hefley's Henchmen WHY
is Hefley's Heritage Area Zoning bill more important to Hefley than
improving the Endangered Species Act?????
larry.hojo@mail.house.gov
rob.howarth@mail.house.gov
And tell Congressman Nick Rahall this: "Change your vote and support HR
4840
because PEOPLE MATTER!!!" You can reach him at: nrahall@mail.house.gov.
Please send this message to your entire list. Thank you.
