I know this isn't a 4x4 question but i do wheel my Toy 4X4 Regularly and I am trying to get my mothers car to shift and her out of my hair. My mother has a 1991 Hyundai Sonata with a 4 speed auto tranny. I need to know what part of the wiring harness controls the shifting and where it connects to the trans. Thanks please be detailed. Thanks in advance

im not sure but i would look for the VSS if equipped with one and that is normally towards the top of the tranny. you didnt say whether it is electronically shifted or not. the VSS will control shifting and shift points. maybe a stupid question but have you checked the tranny fluid level yet?

check the fluid level.

change the filter, and replace the fluid.

THEN you can start to diag the rest.

that is assuming it isnt a brand new car.
