Just picked up a super cannon 10.5" barrel Super Blackhawk in .44 mag. :smokin: Naturally, the only thing to do with this CCW piece is put a scope on it, so I am looking to the almighty PBB for suggestions. Decent low power scope and more importantly, what mount options do I have? Does the top of the receiver need to be drilled and tapped? Or can I bolt something on I dont know about?

Two collar clamps and some Rockstomper rail would be the true PBB spirit.

Keith, My blackhawk is tapped with a Leupold on top...it was expensive at the time, but it's a pretty sweet system.
Here's an old pic:

There is a mount that replaces the rear sight and uses a clamp on the front.
Mine had one on it when I got it, but I took it off and ordered a new rear sight.
It seemed to work fairly well considering it had a junk scope on it.

I wonder if anyone can mill the grooves in the topstrap for a ruger mount? My super redhawk is milled for ruger mounts and they are just a pair of curved notches milled into the sides of the topstrap.

Tell me about it. Overpriced, Slow, and mediocre work. I had some work done to a Model 70 there and was very unhappy. Quoted $40, charged $100, and took 12 weeks instead of the 6 promised.

You are more than welcome to check out my scope mount. I think I recall that I looked at the clamp styles and wasn't too impressed. However, I had this scope mounted maybe 10 years ago so my memory is a little foggy. One thing is for sure...I swapped to some Hogue grips and it was the best thing I have done for this gun.

Yeah, Hogue grips go on everything I own. I am leaving for Atascadero in a few minutes, and I am planning to have dinner with Pat Hogue tomorrow night! I will tell him your compliment ;)

I definitely wanna check it out, I will call you next week.
