I have a samurai with spoa and rear spring conversion but it seems like i bend i spring every time i go out. Recently i came into 900 dollars with my tax return and all and i am looking to spend it on some suspension changes. I am thinking of going with a sidekick hybrid rear end and the wrangler spring conversion. Good idea? and what company is good to buy these things for the price? i am a college student after all.

I broke my t-case mounts off at Knoxville recreation area last week and the only person that was available to go back up there with me to repair/retrieve my samurai was my hermit of a friend that has never driven a car but once and sits at home all day playing world of warcraft. Not the best of ideas but now i have motivation to do some mods.

not that the yj w/missing links is THE way to go, so far i have felt they are great aside from spending the dough to 4-link and enjoy that ride. i'll definately get to the 4-link on my own, but this will be my second season with the yj's w/missing links F/R from trail tough. it does depend on what your overall goal is too. The yj w/missing link i've heard had several downs, but so far i have not seen besides the typical leaf spring ride. I like them for the time being and have had a blast.

i do have use of a shop with all the equipment needed to do 4 link and intermediate fab skills but i would like to have my samurai ready to go by the 25th and i am worried that if i try to do the 4 link it will turn into a money pit and i wont finish it.

Always keep a couple extra tcase mounts in the rig ;) Or, if you snapped bolts off in the case, they were probably loose.

I ran a traction bar for several years when I was running CJ springs in the rear, it worked pretty good but the ones with a shackle made on 'em work best (don't limit flex)

I would not put missing link shackles on anything I drive again. They are an easy way to get longer springs under there, but they are not the ideal solution if you do a lot of climbing/decending.

RE: your axle idea, it sounds like you are at a crossroad. Are you breaking rear axles now? If not, you will definitely lose some ground clearance w/ that larger rear end. If you are breaking axles, I would save up and convert to Toyota stuff - you will end up there eventually, anyway.

Build a traction bar to get the job done for now. It will eliminate your springs breaking for now. And help with traction, take away some of the bouncing on hill climbs if set up correctly. Then pln the stretch and link the rear like I'm doing
