Does anybody know of any place in the midwest (preferably around Kansas City) that sells 1.25 Ton Military Chevy's?

I have heard of people getting them for REAL cheap at auctions.

1.25 ton is the rating given to what we call 1 ton Chevy trucks in the US military... Sheesh Daniel, you should know that :shaking:

:) One of the guys on CK5 just bought 7 listed as salvage for $6300. Sorry all the D60's are already spoken for. Hopefully one is mine. Trucks were missing parts. couple missing a door, none run but figure it this way. Easy $1200 for each of the D60 fronts. Good beds on a few and a good 8 ft bed usualy goes for about $300. Most of the front clips were good and average for them is $250-300. Trannys and engines are there. A few of those trucks probably will run so figure about $800 for a running 6.5 deisel. TH400 trannys and 205 cases. Once the partting out ends he will easily double his money.

I'm guessing he is talking about a one and a quarter ton. I think the designation is M1005. They are Chevys with Dana 60s, Corp 14 bolts and diesel motors.

K30 was also called a 1.25 ton. The hummer more or less was to replace both the K5's and the K30's since they could be configured as a 4 seater or a 2 seater long bed or and ambulance etc. Problem was they suck to drive all the time because they are so wide. That's why the Army is now again buying GM trucks and Burbs for general use. I actually heard they are Leasing them from GM so those will hit the public market better than the Hummer did.

You are wrong on this one Daniel.. The the M1008/1010 were all rated at 1.25 ton.. By the way I spent 7 years in the military driving the 1010 alot of that time..

the trucks are usually refered to as 5/4's due to the fact they are rated at 1 1/4 ton
look at a picture of my jeep and you will see a set of their axles
some of the rears have detroits in them
the best ones to get are the ones with the ambulance body or the commo trucks, have majior heavy duty parts

try doing a search for DRMO, or look under a GSA site, they will haven links

try finding the web page for ft riley, or call and get the number for post information, try to talk with someone in public releations
or send me a e-mail if none of that works.

Thanks for the info guys. My dad works at Ft Leavenworth, and I'm going to have him get some info on whether they have any. I dunno if he can find that out or not, but he would be more likely then I.

Sorry for the wrong forum...
