: Stuff Stolen At Fordyce This Weekend 7/13-7/14 Reward!
RealJeepMan 07-14-2002, 10:11 PM Well I left my tow rig at the staging area near Eagle lakes at 8am saturday morning and came back today(Sun.) at about 2:30pm. When I got to my truck I found a broken out drivers side window. So not only do I have to now replace the window but my pioneer CD stereo along with 15 CD's, Radio Shack sport CB, 4 Motorola Talkabouts(red & black, one was missing the back and had a rubberband holing the batteries in), my little brothers DVD and $8 in casino dollars. My truck is an 88 F350 crewcab 2x and it is white with a blue stipe down the side and a white camper shell.
If anyone has any info on the person, the vehicle they were driving, the time of day they saw someone near my truck or anything else relevent please let me know. You do not have to identify yourself to me, if you do not want to. If I recieve any info that leads to the recovory of my stuff or a royal ass kicking of the scumbag that did this I will pesonally give a reward of $500 CASH. This SHIT pisses me off!:mad3:

jopes 07-14-2002, 10:32 PM Fawk it is getting scary to even go out wheeling in fear shit is going to get stolen or broken into.
From that other guys post there has been alot going down @ fordyce lately.
that sux ryan, hope you get some info, FUCK THIEVES:mad3:
RealJeepMan 07-14-2002, 10:39 PM Thanks preist

The Rockslut 07-14-2002, 10:42 PM OK thats it! Just like how we all ban together for clean up runs on the Con lets get a few (10-15) dudes and park one fancy tow rig up at fordyce and hang out in the trees. I will stay up all day and night if needed. When someone starts stalking the rig and even tries to break into it we will all walk up. Then we take them ashpalt skiing on I-80 :D
boz88xj 07-14-2002, 10:49 PM I think its getting to the point where you need to lock up everything valuable. if I knew there was nmothing to take, id probably leave it unlocked too. if theres nothing there, might as well have them not break a window to find this out... Cause you know if they want in, theyre going to get in. As evidenced here.
Damn shame, hope you find your stuff... And the asshole.:mad3:
LordRatner 07-14-2002, 11:31 PM I'll bring the night vision, you bring the guns, we'll get em
Belly Dragger 07-15-2002, 06:06 AM This is getting too outta hand.
Last year we parked at Cisco to do short day run. When we got back I had note o my windsheild from the "ranger" who claimed that I tried to start a fire and burn down the forest and that when he catches up to me he will write me a big fine ticket. I'm like WTF! I see the "burned" area which is a patch about 2' in diamter and is mostly scorched dirt. It would have taken a flame thrower to ingnite the fuels given and this was about 5' from my truck. Yep I'm going to burn down the forest with a obviously chemically enhanced fire I start next to my truck.
We talked to someone who talked to the ranger and apparently some happy hikers reported the fire and the plume of smoke could be seen from the highway. Yeah right! And the happy hikers were most likely those who "set" the fire and are greenies that hoped the fire would have destroyed the vehicles in the camp which included a couple tow rigs, an RV and my truck. Thereby destroying our property in an attempt to keep us away as well as say "Look those off roaders are careless and need to be kept out of the forest".
I hope that there is no corelation between your story and mine. And I hope that you catch the bastards.

LOPPY 07-15-2002, 07:38 AM This is really getting me now. It's obvious some local kids or dirtbags know that's a secluded spot and easy pick'ns on the weekends. They WILL be back. A sting is perfect. Just make sure you get everything on video. I have a Sony cam with infra red night vision on it if anyone wants to borrow it for such a task. It can pick up the faces of everyone around a camp fire at 100 yards.
ChrisPy 07-15-2002, 08:13 AM man, i fawking hate assholes who dont respect other peoples shit. people like that deserve to turn up as roadkill.
but the fact remains that assholes exist, and its illegal to put 50,000 volts through the body of your truck while your away, so gotta deal with it, i guess.
rule #1, insure the shit.
secondly gotta watch what your putting where. if your gonna keep DVD players, CD's, 2 way radios and valuable casino bux in yoru truck, consider getting a HD metal truck box (not the cheap ass aluminum ones.. ) and locking your shit inside. that way thiefs are not as tempted.
its a sad fawking world when you cant leave your shit at trail head and expect to find it when you get back.. i hope you find the fawkers...

I have a Sony with night vision also. You should tag along with us so we can get mulitple angles. I will bring both of my little hand held radios. This could be fun. Would love to film these idiots breaking into a truck. Probably be able to link them to all the other break-ins in the area too.
Tan Wheeler No Mo 07-15-2002, 05:29 PM Ryan your stuff got taken because you got a nice tow rig. You could have left your old truck unlocked and nothing would of happened
Ask Doug to go down and talk to Krister. Krister and Rob came through there on the way in Sunday Morning they may have seen something.
P.S That Sucks
Matt
rockmutt 07-15-2002, 06:11 PM the rockslut has a damn good point!!, set up a sting!:mad3:
RealJeepMan 07-15-2002, 06:43 PM Matt, I always left the other truck unlocked. I just told Doug to go see Krister.
Thanks,
Ryan
RealJeepMan 07-15-2002, 06:45 PM I also just learned that two other trucks were broken into at the same time. Im gonna get those guys!

crash 07-15-2002, 07:25 PM I hate to say it, but your stupid for leaving that stuff where it can be seen and un-attended, lets all face it, its a different world now, you have to look out for your shit from every direction. That is why when my tow rig(BTW, pos BB 74 chev, GREEN!) is left parked for a few days by itself, I pull the coil wire, and remove anything that is anything at all, it goes into the lockbox on the trailer.. Like I say, having crap sitting out in the open is REALLY going to invoke the assholes to ripped you off...
moveaside 07-15-2002, 07:28 PM I got a digicam set up for nightvision and records in HI-8 so the pics will be good. Guys like this are cowards and an asskicking will usually get you sugar in your gas tank next time they come around. Leave a window down so they don't break the fawker scatter some empty CD's and wait. Film there actions get a plate and faces give it to the cops and let them deal with it. If your gonna kick their ass don't film it and if you kill them pour LYE(misspelled?) on the bodies so they decompose quicker.:vader2: Need help with any of this PM me
crash 07-15-2002, 07:32 PM Don't they make motion cameras that are potable with nightvision? That seems like the key!

Don't they make motion cameras that are potable with nightvision? That seems like the key! They probably would steal the cameras. You know in other countries where they cut your hands off, cane you publicly, or hang you for stealing they don't have these problems as often. People aren't going to learn until they're taught. Just make sure its a lesson and not just revenge.
crash 07-15-2002, 08:22 PM I so agree there, but you also have to remeber in those countries the population isn't over ran by lawers... Pretty sad when a thief can get hurt breaking the law and sue and win, even if the victim in the crime isn't the cause...
As for the camera's, the ones I have seen can be placed/hidden quite well..
RealJeepMan 07-15-2002, 08:31 PM Crash, nothing could be seen from the outside of the truck other than the CD player missing a faceplate. Everything was under or behind a seat or in the glovebox. They found everything after they broke the window. The other two guys had their wallets taken from the glove box and center console, not in sight. I am now making a 1/4" thick box and bolting it directly to the floor to lock everything in.

crash 07-15-2002, 09:10 PM Wow, thats shittty, they musta thought something was in there, one reason I have a rust bucket as a tow rig, and everything underneath it is nice,lol... All in all, it does suck ass these fawkers do this.
One other thing i do plan ahead of time, if its not needed on the trip, i just don't take it, granted, shitty to have a window broken with nothing inside
ChrisPy 07-15-2002, 11:15 PM another option would be to get one of these

http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/africa/9812/11/flame.thrower.car/
(watch the video.. its entertaining)
of course, with the number of false alarms in my neighborhood, maybe this is not a good idea..
FULLSIZE 07-16-2002, 12:00 AM When someone starts stalking the rig and even tries to break into it we will all walk up. you dont think these guys might be packin a gun? i would just dial 911 for the sheriff/CHP, get it all on video, let them know they've been taped and the cops are on there way. i wouldn't want to see someone get shot over a cd player.
LordRatner 07-16-2002, 12:48 AM I say we shoot them. There are plenty of places to hide the body out there
Lil Uzi 07-16-2002, 06:16 AM Hang em' high !!
steveh 07-16-2002, 08:27 AM Well, that sucks! We were there about 10am Sunday morning, granted we did not pay a lot of attention to the tow rigs, but we saw no blatent eveidence of any break-ins. We staged in the area in front of the bathrooms.
As far as all the vigilanty talk, don't be stupid. At least file reports with the law, and if you do catch someone in the act, call for the law. Don't get yourself hurt or end up in jail for assult, not worth it.
RealJeepMan 07-16-2002, 08:35 AM Steveh, was there anyone hanging around any of the trucks? Or any other people?
Ryan
steveh 07-16-2002, 08:43 AM No, we saw a couple dirtbike guys and a family leaving. We only ran into one group of rigs heading out as we were going in, a few jeeps, a toy and a Hummer. I'll post a link to this on our club web site, one of our prospects and the group he was in headed out that way. we came out at Cisco.
Definitly call the forest service or sherrif, whoever does the enforcement there, and let them know. It's probably the same person or persons doing the thiefing. They may be able to step up patrols there.
Everyone else should just not leave anything valuable in the tow rigs.
The Rockslut 07-16-2002, 10:20 AM I have a plan that will involve filming the break in, talking with the individuals involved with absolutley now harm done and only slightly illegal activity with minimal possibility of getting caught. :D Sort of an innocent blackmail setup. Dont want to give all the details due to the possibility of the slime bag being on this board and watching for the dates that people heading up to Fordyce. The sting is in the process of being setup.
It is a good idea to not leave anything valuable in your vehicle but that wont stop them from breaking a window or punching a door lock in!

How long do you think it would take CHP or the Nevada County Sheriff Dept. to respond/arrive to that area, esp. if there was no immediate threat to human life? WAY too long I'd bet.
Thieves have it made there. They are one minute from a major interstate, the closest cops are probably a half hour away, and there aren't too many people around (and if there are, they'll have plenty of warning). :(
If you have a tow rig, I'd say don't leave ANYTHING in it.
I wonder if continued crap like this (and I don't really see it stopping if the pickings are good) will shift this sport back to more street-legal style rigs... ? Next we'll be hearing about whole tow rigs disappearing. :mad3:
I'm sure glad I don't have a tow rig to leave behind and worry about.
FULLSIZE 07-16-2002, 03:52 PM i've seen plenty of highway patrol up there, but i know what your saying. i would just hate to be confronting someone and have them pull out a pistola!
SMART ASS 07-16-2002, 04:05 PM makes me just wana take a new truck out there, and set the person(s) up, ya know, act like youve gone wheeln, leave your truck behind, but just camp out in the trees about 150ft from the truck and when someone comes to fuk with it, handle things your self ;) which ever way you want :D :usa:
Priest 07-16-2002, 04:06 PM I have lots of CCTV equipment including time lapse VCR's. I could wire up someone's trailer for surveillance. Unfortunatly it would have to be an inclosed I don't have anything small enough to do an open trailer.
FYI.. any camera that will shoot in B/W is an infared camera. You just need an IR immiter/source.
SMART ASS 07-16-2002, 04:18 PM u could do that too, i just think confronting someone the american way, and teach them a lesson they'll never forget
flimmy 07-16-2002, 07:05 PM How many people park there on any given weekend? If you have a large # of rigs there have everyone pitch in and pay someone to stay there and watch your rigs. Just an idea.

Yeah, but I'd think CHP would only be patrolling the freeway...? And who knows what part of it they might be on when you called 911.
Would they even respond if you called 911 for a theft?
Seems out of their jursidiction or whatever, but I don't know.
I would think the nearest police/sheriff besides CHP would be Nev. Co. Sheriff in Nevada City or Truckee, but I don't know if they might have some small stations somewhere else like a car at a Fire station or something...?
Sounds like the best bet is to park at the Cisco campground, but that might be closed in the winter too, so...

That must have been the other glass I saw on the ground when we were on our way out. My friend had the black SD and trailer parked up off to the side (opposite the bathrooms) and was broken into also.
