Ok Guys
Heres the problem. 94 chevy suburban tow rig
The rear air does not function properly. It does not get cold.
The air works upfront really good and the fans work both front and rear but no cold air comes from the rear vents.
The Heat appears to work in the back and so do all the fans.

You guys know anything about this? Where do you recomend looking for info on the rear air plumbing on a 94 3/4 chevy suburban?
I have checked a chilton manual to no avail.

I gotta get this figured out. I have a Bulldog (BABE) and a 180 lb 1 yr old english mastiff (Nekia) and a Pug (ASIA)that dont enjoy riding in the back without air.

Help us out if you can.

Thanks

Best bet for keeping a bunch of heavy breathing dogs cool in the back of a Sub would be to mount a camper
AC unit to the roof and get ready to hang the sides of beef up.

I saw a Suburban in Florida with two of those units on the roof and the owner said it kicks out more cold air than anything GM could come up with.

THese units are pretty much bolt on and go.

The interior of a Suburban is so freaing huge that the AC units from the factory are marginal at best.

You did not state whether your refrigerant had been serviced recently so that could be a starting point before you go any further..

My compressor is new and it blows out cold to the front.

Rear controls work but the Thing only blows out warm air. I thought that maybe it was a valve or something that wasnt opening up to allow AC cold air to flow from front to back.

how does that top mount AC work? Is it just electrical or what? DO I have to plumb lines from compressor?

Thanks for the info.

Id rather not cut holes in the Roof but It wouldnt be out of the Qs to keep the pooches cool .
Thanks

I'm not sure about your body style, but my 83 has a pair of "T"s in the line up front. The lines then run to the rear of the 'burb. When I got mine, someone had capped these off. I got an R134 retro-fit kit, and retro'ed it. While I was at it, I re-connected those lines. Odd's are yours works in a similar fashion. If you can, chekc the lines up front, then take down the plastic covering the a/c and tap on the expansion valve a little. It might be sticking. See if the lines are getting even remotely cool.

Good luck

My guess is all you need is the electrical(12 V) and away you go.
The units are self contained with the controls and AC outlets coming through the roof.

Check into an RV shop for the units and weigh your options.

HTH.

We had a 85 Diesel burban, and it to had a the rear AC, and it also went out. There are lines that go all the way back to the rear. on the right side where the AC "sweats" there's a valve that is there. This was too long ago, but the front also has a high, and low pressure valve. If your compressor went out like ours, and threw shavings all over the system, one or both of those valves could be stuck, or clogged. it's lot a expensive, but it'll get oha so cold after that. Also, if you start this and get the head liner out/down far enough, put some insulation in there too, something thin, but that it also has to have the reflective aulm. foil on both sides. It'll keep the burb a little cooler.
