I needed to sand it more to get all of the old stain off of it but hell for just throwing on some clear varnish I don't think it came out too bad.

Yes you do and it will get better when I replace that shitty receiver, which runs fine but looks like hammered hell. It is going to be my pretty rifle. I have 2 more that can be beaters, BTW the stock is off of one of the $99 J&G kits. Maybe one day I will get all of them done.

Edit: Yes it was factory donkey dick Romy wood that I hacked off with a leatherman and took after with an orbital sander.
