Finally a forum for me

I am actually in the middle of putting a grand wag together for a round the country trip this summer. We're going to be on the road for about 4 weeks for a shakedown run. Next summer we are heading to Alaska for 4 months.
Wag is getting a major rebuild. Not going to be anything like original. It will have a Norcold freezer onboard as well as several upgrades to the system. I'll start a build thread here when I get some more momentum going again.

Very cool. I think this is a great forum to have.

Get some good mud tires that perform well in mudd if you plan on doing any wheeling in Alaska. Also get a tire that doesn't chunk the tread blocks. The roads are tough on tires. Cooper STT's are popular up here and work well in snow and mud.

I'm currently going to college at Fairbanks but I'm from Washington and towed my Jeep up. I've done a little wheeling and taken two trips to Anchorage and wound up taking a chunk out of a tread block on my last trip. As an example of how good the STT's work I pulled a toyota 4runner up a a snowy hill. I was in reverse.

Sweet forum. I used to really enjoy the Turtle Expedition in Fourwheeler.
I love rock crawling, and mud bogging, but the allure and adventure of expedition travel has always thrilled me.

There is excellent info over on the www.expeditionportal.com site along with some decent reviews of friedges etc from www.overlandjournal.com. The only thing is these guys are less fabrication / custom oriented. The big thing is build strong and reliable, as little aftermarket/hard to find parts as possible, and that should be it. I **love** old Waggies, I owned a '69 with a Buick 350/TH400 that had many a trip to Baja in it as a surf vehicle. Cheers, Andre
