RC-MAN 04-13-2008, 11:17 AM Whos runnin it? has any had any probs with when you turn your key on the fuel pump does not always come on? WTF!!!!!!
Ive checked relays and wiring I am at my whits end on whatgs going on??

Malibu 04-21-2008, 12:13 PM Is your unit new? I purcahsed one on Ebay and it gave me problems from the get go. I replaced the fuel pump because I thought that was the problem. Then, it would start first crank sometimes and others would not send fuel to the throttle body. I ended up getting a new 2D ecu and things are working great now. The guys at Holley seem to be a little irritable when I call. Maybe it is just me.
RC-MAN 04-21-2008, 01:18 PM Thats what prob I'm haveing how much for the new 2d ECU if you do mind giving that price?
jesster 04-21-2008, 01:40 PM Not sure that its the correct way to do it, but we wired the fuel pump up separately from the rest of the Pro Jection system on my buddies rig when we couldn't get the fuel pump to run on the Holley harness. Seems to work fine so far.
RC-MAN 04-22-2008, 11:45 AM OK That has crossed my mind also, so jesster my understand with a throttle bodie is when you give it gas the injectors pump more gas and when u let off they slow down. So if I wire the injectors on a seperate switch it will be the same at all time and this works also.
I am not sweatin gas milage just want it to work.
Let me know.

The fuel pump is running at a constant speed all the time, with pressure being controlled by the TBI unit's regulator and excess gas circulating back to the tank via the return line. Both my friend's Holley Pro-Jection and my factory GM TBI system have the fuel pump wired separately from the rest of the fuel system. Again, I don't know if this is the best way, but it has worked fine for me.
I am not sure what you mean about running the injectors on a separate switch? Injectors need to be variably controlled by the computer.
Magnum_Willys 04-22-2008, 10:06 PM The controller powers the fuel pump with a variable voltage line to allow you to use a very small return fuel line. This is problematic - just connect the fuel pump to a relay separately allowing full voltage all the time.
RC-MAN 04-23-2008, 09:57 AM HOW? can u tell me how to do this pic! diagram!
please I am in a pickle with my truck!!!!
jesster 04-23-2008, 01:42 PM Here is a diagram that I *modified*...
Hope this helps.

I used to run it. If you do a search under Pro-jection you will find how I really feel about it. I was on Swamp Lake Trail in the Sierras (13 mile trail) with some friends, about half way on the second day morning I smelt something burning. I thought that it was the guy in front of me, the odor was really strong. All of the sudden my truck spuddered out. Crank but no start. Felt the ecu and it was burning hot.......FUCK was the only thought. Some diag and found that the fuel pump was not getting power, okay no problem just used my light relay to energize the pump and off I went. That got me about another 100 feet with it running like shit and then nothing.....no injector control. I was fucked about 7 miles in on a 13 mile trail. Do you think the local NAPA sells Holley ecu's in Shaver Lake???
This was on it's first trip. I promptly returned the p.o.s. and got a full refund. Now my shit runs factory TBI with ALL components easily ordered from the local parts store. FYI the factory TBI gets better fuel economy and better throttle response.
RC-MAN 04-23-2008, 07:32 PM JESSE, I see what your saying in the diagram, but I actually tried this? I t-tapped into the green wire thinking it was ground but acctually it holds 12 current when you turn your ECU on go figure??? I called holly this morning saying this and they said correct! treat the fuel pump as a light bulb hot one way the turn on hot both ways??? I can fool with the on and off so much it will make the computer finllaly kick the fuel pump on and make the truck run. One trick I have been doing is puttinmg a good battery charger on my brand new optima and truck will crank and run like a champ. Holley stated Im pushing extra voltage thru the ECU and this is make in run properly. they are telling me while I am turning the motor over that my voltage is running or dropping down drastically. Has this ever happened to any one? all my accessories are ran off fuzed links nothing works until I hit my kill switch----nothing

changing alt today see if that cures issue
aaronr10 04-24-2008, 08:22 AM Check your voltage drops across your battery cables. May have a poor ground that is causing excessive voltage drop during cranking. I should have mentioned that the ecu supplies current and voltage to fuel pump instead of grounding a control side of a relay like a real EFI system. If your voltage drops below ecu threshold during cranking it will not have enough voltage to function properly.
RC-MAN 04-24-2008, 09:44 AM Yes correct, so I did one of those old school tricks got the truck runnin and took pos side of battery cable off, well truck died so changing alt out maybe be my prob the whole time!!! call me a dumb-ass if it is.

exactly.. i have 300 into my swap..thats including a 250 harness from larrys.. 3 wire hookup..easy.. i tried the projection and its crap..factory is so much better.

Just ordered a new computer will have tommorrow see if thats my problem, I hate to do it but dang when the thing works it works great! Just trying to get out and going as quickly as possible.
RC-MAN 04-24-2008, 08:14 PM What all would I need to do swap, I've been told many varibles!

Just so we don't bash only Holly I dumped the proflo 3500 edelbrock for factory and the power and mileage are improved and the reliability is MUCH improved. As is the ease of getting parts or diagnostics.

intake or adaptor, throttle body and all sensors, gm small distributor with 2 connection ingition module (everything tbi has 2 connection) coil, knock sensor, 02 sensor, computer, harness (larryselectricsite.com best bang for the buck and easiest) few misc fittigns and hose.. need a inline pump )e2000)
its very easily a junkyard swap and if you dont buy a harness adn go through a oem harness (pita) it can easily be done with junkyard parts for less than 100. if you use the intake off a tbi motor..it will bolt up minus 4 bolts.. the 4 innerbolts will have to be redrilled at a different angle.. not a big deal.
feel free to pm me as i just finished my swap.
RC-MAN 04-27-2008, 11:48 AM COOL may do this if this doesn't work out just to bout to pull teeth with this holley stuff. I have a 94 chevy ifs 4x4 I drive know, I swear I'll pull the motor and everything out and use it go buy another DD.
