No separation at the frame ends???

No separation at the frame ends???

from the top link and the bottom link? a couple of inches between the flex joints.

what is good number? I have clearance problems with the starter if you can see it in there.

Looks like you need to flip that upper frame mount to give it more separation.

you talking about this?

that was my original plan, but the starter would interfere

is it bad to run the top link up slop from the frame?

I might be able to flip that bracket, but might have to go with taller coils and modify the axle bracket and bit so it rids lower.

Without any seperation, you're really not much better off than just running a radius arm setup.

Get that upper arm up higher on the frame side and you'll be in much better shape. You can put it on the other side (passenger) if you need to.

so the top link needs to slop down to the axle? Does it matter much on how separated the link is from the frame? I could probably flip those up but would have to run the joint right next to the frame in order for it to clear the starter. would that matter much?

Compare... then correct :D

the location of the mount being right on the frame wont matter much. your trackbar will take care of the side to side so the angle of the upper isnt too important as long as its at least 90% the length of the lowers. just make it fit.

Otherwise it looks pretty decent for a first build. I thought about going with that xmember mount but went with an inside frame mount from ballistic. but i had to sleeve the frame to get a bolt through the mount. oh well :P i still have quite a bit im changing to make better on my first build.

yea get the 3rd link higher. And what about the panhard? that also goes into the front 3 link equation.

putting the panhard up this weekend.

also, about the top link, where would be ideal placement to mount on the axle side? my understanding was to get it as center line with the vehicle as possible.

but would it matter if it was close to the drive side coil?

a lot of people will tell you to put it on top of the pumpkin to avoid torque lift. Ive seen it done both ways but am not entirely convinced itll cause an issue... might wanna weld the tube to the center hunk just in case :D

as far as how wide or centered jsut make it fit.

Just get that frame side up a few inches if you can. I dont think the axle position mattes all that much, I would try what you got before trying to weld to cast for the first time.

In addition to what the others have said, you might consider rewelding the upper mount. The weld looks kinda sorta weak, moving too slow and/or too much wire speed?

im of the sound belief that the Ballistic link towers arent strong enough near the top. the base is fine but only haveing two plates and no bracing at the top let mine bend during the first flex. My welds are shit so that could be part of it but the fact that the bends happened at the very top mean im replacing it with a poly |_| shaped mount rather than the | | style that Ballistics is. I love all my other ballistic mounts i just dont think this one will survive long in my application.

I'm going to run it on the driver non-pumpkin side for now and see how it works. I've dropped the joint down about a inch and a half from where it was on the axle mount and think I will do a another inch for more clearance.

but if I still can't make it fit, might have to to on the pumpkin side and weld to the cast

guess that's the good thing about ballistic brackets, only out 30 bucks if it dosn't work.

I got the 7" separation bracket but figuring out that is too tall.

I'm dropping it down a few inch for clearance of the link and it will make it stronger.

but ya, ballistic has some good stuff.
