Any tips for welding on a Dana 60 and a 14 bolt axle tube? Getting ready to get my front end put in my Scout, and just wanted to get some advice first, before I start...
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

what are you welding? For perches most tubes are close to a half inch thick and the perch is comparably thin. No problem welding on that tube and it is no special metal so mig, arc, whatever..

I'm welding my spring perches onto the front 60, but I've heard that when you weld on cast... there can be problems with it getting too hot too fast, etc. I've heard to do a little at a time, let it cool, do a little more, let it cool, etc. This is what I was needing to know.

Just the diff housing is cast. People always ask about welding track bars or other junk to the top of the diff.

Welding on cast is not for the first-timer! There are 2 ways to weld it, use a torch and cast filler rod, or use nickle rod. The nickle rod is not the best, but it works. If you've never welded cast, then I would leave it to a professional. Welding it incorrectly WILL lead to cracking and the mounts WILL break off. An easier option would to build a hoop around the housing and weld to it. That is what I've done with my setup so I don't have to weld on cast if I don't have to.
