About 1 mile from wentworth is a giant tree in the road, and then about 1 mile later the snow is about 3-4 ft deep as of sunday....

Details? Did you get all the way down? Im going on May 3rd with Miguel and our goal is to get down to the lake bed to camp. Is this doable? The group of rigs that is going are semi-built with 35s minimum.

Just went this weekend. We went in Wentworth Springs and camped there on dry ground in some places. Saturday we went to walker hill and back. The waterfall coming in after wentworth did not have any snow at all, the slabs were about half snow/rocks. The snow is melting quick so expect typical spring thaw conditions. The weather was great, wheeled in shorts and t's.

Wow, thanks for the update. We are still debating going. Was the trail more of a snow-wheeling trip and did the snow make everything way more difficult?

Also, was there camping there? I assume the lake-bed is full right?

Mostly drifts that produced quite a bit of side-hills, but thats spring thaw and I thinks it's really good wheelin'. We made our camp right near where the pit toilets are in wentworth springs. Some places dry ground, at the same time some of the picnic tables were still buried. I'm not sure about the lake bed that you spoke of.

Are you talking about the rubicon or the hell hole trail?
The hell hole trail ends down at a reservoir.

My apologies, I thought hell hole was part of the rubicon. We were on the rubicon.

Yea, it looks like halfxspaid and I are gonna head up the rubicon instead of Hell Hole. Did you happen to get a look at the Loon Lake campground? We're thinking about going in through Loon Lake trailhead and going as far as we can.

Alright.....................to know about Hell Hole you will just have to drive out there. Its a pretty remote trail that many dont travel.

I'll have a report by the end of the month.

:smokin: The trail is open. We wheeled from French Meadows Resvoir up Chipmunk Ridge....... ( 2 to 3 feet of slushy snow and many down trees ) to Hell Hole Trail Head. The actual trail is completely void of snow but pretty wet in places....... the waterfall half way down on the left is flowing in it's full glory.
