Running a distributor out of a roller 302 in a non roller 302 = chewed up cam gear or is it okay. I can't remember..

Thanks.

I'm not 100% positive, but I am pretty sure it is the other way around....running a non-roller distributor gear with a roller cam. Sorry, not much help.

Right.. I remember that.. But I have a TFI dist out of a roller motor that was a parts donor for my injection conversion on my flat tappet 302, and I can't remember if the roller compatible dist gear will chew up my cam.

Nope, mixing gears and cams either way will result in carnage. Steel gear on steel cam, cast gear on cast cam. Just got thru putting a '96 Exploder 5.0 in my '80 P/U and did plenty of research. Ended up using '85 Mustang 5.0 5sp. dizzy in mine, steel gear and Duraspark sender. Works like a champ. Unfortunatly, you'll have to swap gears, as there isn't a TFI dizzy with a cast gear that I know of...

Looks like I'll have to pull one from a truck or 83-85 vic/marquis/towncar with a flat tappet CFI motor.

Thanks for the refresher.
